Hi I'm Mikayla Dunford

I'm a volleyball player, an artist, and a missionary. And I am a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Utah, but moved to Kentucky for a large part of my childhood. We moved back to Utah when I was 12. I played volleyball for 8 years at the highest levels. Because I worked hard every day, I earned a scholarship that paid for 2 years of my college education. I also love animals and gardening, and hope to have a small farm someday. I am the oldest of 6 children and although it can be crazy sometimes, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the gospel taught in our church. I love knowing that through Christ's atonement, I can be with my family throughout all eternity. My trials and struggles can be great, but when I go to church and read my scriptures, I feel Heavenly Father near me helping me through. There is no place I would rather be than serving my Savior. The knowledge given to me by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has helped me come to know my Savior and my Heavenly Father and their plan for me. I know that they loves me and that I am a true child of God. He has a plan for all of His children if we but follow the way back to Him.

How I live my faith

I'm leaving in a month to serve a mission in Argentina Posadas. I am so excited to bear Christ's name and serve the people there.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Mikayla Dunford
Part of the plan of salvation was to come to earth to receive a body. Our bodies are precious gifts from our Heavenly Father and we believe that they should be treated with respect. We should keep our minds and bodies healthy and free from that which would damage them like alcohol, tobacco, coffee and tea, and drugs. We also believe that we should eat healthy and exercise often to help maintain our physical health. There are many great spiritual and physical blessings given to us as we follow the Word of Wisdom, such as the ability to have the physical and emotional capacities to meet our daily challenges.
