Hi I'm Paul Longhurst

I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I truly love all of them. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a family man. I love being a husband, father and grandfather. Spending time with family is the best. I also love to play. I'm always up for golf, tennis, racquetball, skiing, boating, riding my Harley or flying through the mountains on my snowmobile.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to have peace in my life and to be happy. I come from a long legacy of church membership. My great great grandparents were some of the first to join the church. They worked and walked with Joseph Smith. One received a blessing from the Prophet Joseph Smith when she was very ill. My ancestors went through some real hardships for this church. Many lost their lives because of these hardships. Although I know they gladly gave their lives so their posterity, me, could have the peace and joy of the gospel. Being a Mormon teaches me about the importance of ancestors and where I came from, it teaches me the value of my marriage and my family. It ties me with my grandchildren and my grandchildren's grandchildren. Families are forever, that makes me happy. Since I have been a member my whole life, I have been told by some that I am just brainwashed and I do not know anything else. Not so. I am a Mormon because I have chosen to be one. While I have had many try to convince me otherwise I know this church to be true. One of the advantages of being older (61) I can observe and experience what brings true joy, peace and happiness in life. I want peace and happiness….. I have peace and happiness….. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Each day I strive to live my faith by loving and serving others. I have taught an adult Sunday School class for the past five years and have loved every minute of it. Over the years I have spent many many hours working/playing with the youth. Playing or coaching basketball, baseball or spending a week in the high mountains on backpacking trips; I have tried to teach them how to be good Christians and to follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. Family is one of the most important parts of my faith. I will always place family first. Starting with my high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years, my children and grandchildren.
