Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a Texan born and raised, but you probably wouldn't know it from my accent. I love nature music, Japanese, family, and friends.

About Me

I am the third of seven children in my family. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University, and I am hoping to work in Japan in the near future. I love learning about people and their practices, but I love the Japanese language and culture especially. I was originally a different major, but I put my school on pause to serve an 18 month mission in Japan. Between my experiences working and serving as a missionary, I found that my life and interests took a bit of a different direction. I've loved Asia and Japan for as long as I can remember, but I didn't have the courage to make the things I enjoy a priority until recently. I am a self-taught violinist, and I love exploring different genres of music. I don't have a perfect life, but I believe there are lessons and happiness to be found in all our experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we often went as a family when I was younger. But my journey and decision to be a "Mormon" are very much my own. When I was 13 I decided to attend church regularly because I felt like it helped motivate me to be more patient and kind. In high school I knew I could choose a different path, but I didn't feel like it could make me happy. And while I can't say I'm the happiest person on the planet, I'm happier being myself than I could have imagined. I love growth. I love learning. And these are both things I've been led to in positive ways as I come to understand and apply Christ's teachings in my life.

How I live my faith

Honestly my beliefs shape a lot of what I do. When I learn about Christ's teachings and example I find myself wanting to reach out and help people more. I want to listen to others people's stories more. And that's something I really enjoy. I try to prioritize my relationship with Christ by learning more about Him, remembering him, and emulating him in my life. I also try to promote positive relationships with others. It is hard for me to reach out at times, but there's nothing better than experiencing happiness with loved ones. I'm more than willing to answer questions that my friends or coworkers have about my beliefs, but I prefer to just quietly be myself and let my beliefs show in my conduct. Currently I serve in my local congregation by organizing various lessons and enrichment activities for other young, single women.
