Hi I'm Rebecca Bishop

I love to sing and tap dance. My family makes me happier than anything else! I am serving a mission in Tempe, AZ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Oregon. I moved to Provo, Utah for my last two years of high school and met many wonderful friends and got lots of neat opportunities! There are 6 kids in my family, and I love them and my parents soooo much. They make me laugh and they support me and care about the things that are important to me. I am a performer, but my first priority is being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a disciple of Christ. I love to sing and tap dance and play the piano. Music brings me so much joy! :) I also like to work hard. I have had part-time jobs at a credit union in Oregon, JC Penney, and Home Depot. I am currently serving an LDS mission in Tempe, Arizona, spanish speaking! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! After my mission I plan on attending BYU and studying to become a nurse practitioner, as well as pursuing my passion, tap dancing! More importantly, I would like to get married in an LDS temple and raise my family to love Christ and serve others! I can't wait to be a mommy!

Why I am a Mormon

I love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know it is truly God's church, the same one established by Jesus Christ when he lived on the earth. I have gone to church with my family my entire life and I am SO GRATEFUL that they were faithful and taught me to love my savior, Jesus Christ. My current and future families are sooo important to me, and because of this church I know I can live with them forever, with God, if I do the things He wants me to. I want to share an experience. Some don't believe that God communicates with us today, and that miracles are a thing of the past, but I know that He cares just as much now as He did in Bible times. I know God listens to each every prayer and will answer them, according to our faith. The Saturday before I left to serve my mission, I was playing racquetball with a friend. I got hit in the left eye, HARD, and I lost vision in that eye. When we went to the doctor, he said that there was an abrasion right on the vision center of my eye, and he wasn't sure if my vision would be restored or not, especially since I was at risk for a re-bleed. I was terrified, because the mission I had been preparing for since I was 15, was at risk of being delayed. We decided I would go, and we would wait and see how much vision I got back. After praying a lot, and receiving a blessing from my father, I felt that I would be able to do the work of the Lord, regardless of whether I had one good eye or two, which was very comforting. TWO WEEKS LATER, I had perfect eyesight. Perfect. I came into the mission field nearly blind in one eye, and through the grace of God my sight was healed, just like the blind man in the Bible! I testify that miracles are still happening. God cares! "For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save if be according to their faith." -2 Nephi 27:23

How I live my faith

Right now, I am living my faith by fulfilling my desire to share God's love and serving a mission! Before my mission I played the piano for the children ages 3-11, and I really enjoyed that. One of the songs they sing is called, "I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus" and I would like to share the lyrics. The message of this song is very important to me. "I'm trying to be like Jesus. I'm following in His ways. I'm trying to love as he did in all that I do and say. At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice, but I try to listen as the still small voice whispers: Love one another as Jesus loves you! Try to show kindness in all that you do! Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought, for these are the things Jesus taught." These are the things we teach the youth in our church. We believe in loving our neighbors and trying to follow the perfect example that Jesus Christ set, so we can someday return to God and be like Him. I love that so much! I want to be like Jesus, and stand up and say "Here am I, send me," whenever God needs something done. I want to be the answer to the prayers of the people I encounter. So I am trying to reach out to those in need and be worthy to be called upon when God needs a faithful servant. I can't wait to serve more in the church after my mission, especially in my family! :)
