Hi I'm Ammon Guffey

Grew up in Ohio, U.S. Soon to be in college with no idea what the future will hold. Called to serve. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated high school in 2014 and am planning to attend BYU provo after I serve a mission. I have some ideas about what career path I want to take, but in reality those ideas just make that decision more confusing. I like to play soccer, football, basketball, sand volleyball, and I love to play rugby. Nothing like a game where you move, hit, think, adapt, and push; non-stop. My movies right now are Forever Strong, Avengers, Hunger Games (I read the books first), The Hobbit, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Even though I was born and raised American I feel like I am truly meant for the Latino Culture. I have Columbian, Dominican, and Chilean families that I may or may not spend more time with than my own family... I absolutely love the mountains. Mud-runs have become a recent hobby. I enjoy most genres of music. I like to listen to: The Piano Guys, Twenty-One Pilots, Coldplay, One Republic.

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born and raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I don't really have big conversion story or a certain moment where I just knew this church is true. Rather, I have had many experiences throughout my life of good feelings as I attend church and read scriptures, promptings that what I am reading and hearing is true. I have observed the way the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my friends and family and how the way they live is happy. I have seen people who live in poverty who are still indescribably happy and content with their lives because they are blessed so much spiritually. And as I have applied the teachings of this church in my own life, I have been blessed with a happiness I know I could not find through any other means. I have felt the love of a Father in Heaven who loves us all perfectly, and wants us to be happy for eternity. Basically, throughout my short life of 18 years, a case of evidences has been built such that if I were to stand as a witness in court and be asked to denounce this church, deny that Jesus is the son of God and that Joseph Smith restored His church, or any such kind of denial, I could not. I could NEVER. As it says in Alma 32 of the Book of Mormon, faith is like a little seed that when planted and allowed to grow becomes a knowledge. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church again on the earth today, with a fullness of the truth. I know that upon keeping and following the principles and ordinances of His gospel we, as children of God, may achieve exaltation and Eternal life with the Father.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve a 2 year mission in Rancagua, Chile, and cannot wait! I attend a spanish-speaking ward in Hamilton/Fairfield, Ohio and I love to work with the spanish missionaries. I do volunteer work such as participating in food drives and working at volunteer organization centers.
