Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in Seattle. I'm a husband, father, and student. I am a superhero nut, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a father of two amazing children. My wife is the greatest person I've ever known, and I'm honored to have her in my life. I'm a student, studying marketing, hopefully graduating next April (2015). I am (at the risk of sounding girl-y) a social butterfly. I love being around people, whether working in a team or playing games at home. I am a superhero nut! It makes me so happy that my son is learning to love them as much as I do. I enjoy kicking back on my giant beanbag chair and watching a good movie, especially if my daughter is snuggled up next to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've felt the relief of past guilt leave me. I've made mistakes, and I'll admit that growing up I didn't follow all the rules. As I grew up, I realized my errors and started progress toward turning my life around. In doing so, I felt the Spirit of God grow stronger in my life, and I could feel myself growing happier. Good habits replaced bad, and my confidence and self esteem soared. Beyond this, I started to study, wanting to know more about my own faith. On my mission, I was able to share my newly rediscovered faith and watch as the same transformation I had experienced happened in others. One of my greatest accomplishments is my mission, where I solidified my own knowledge of truth and brought others to share in it. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the true words of God. There is a prophet on this earth today, just as there was in ancient times. He is the mouthpiece of our Heavenly Father and leads Christ's church through revelation. I am a child of God. You are a child of God. He has a plan for us. There has been a great plan for each of us since before the beginning of time, and if we live up to the promises we make to Him throughout our lives, we will return to live with Him and our families in glory and light. I bear this witness in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

How I live my faith

One of my favorite things to do is teach. It gives me an excuse to delve deeply into the gospel so I can share it with those in my class. I most recently had the privilege of teaching the teenage boys in my ward, ages 16-18 (we call 'em priests). This has been my favorite position in the church. I got to look back on my life when I was their age and try to figure out how best to teach the principles of the gospel. I love being a missionary. I love talking about the gospel and about my Savior, Jesus Christ. All of my friends know that if they have a question about Mormonism, I'm the guy to talk to, because they will get a straight and excited answer. My brother is about the age to go on his mission, and it's very exciting to watch him prepare. Making sure my little family stays strong in the gospel is very important to me. We always say goodnight prayers with my son and daughter, and we pray over meals. We share stories from the scriptures with them, and read uplifting books. It's important to both my wife and I that our children grow up with the knowledge of their Savior and the courage to follow His words.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve missions. I know many good, strong, faithful members who have not. All members are, however, greatly encouraged to do so. I have wonderful memories of my mission. I know a mission is hard, and that can deter some people, but it is so worth it. Jesus Christ commanded his disciples to go and teach, and if it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me!
