Hi I'm Allie Brown

I will be serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have moved around a lot since I was a kid. Having members of my family in the military made it so that we never lived in one place for too long. While in Middle and High School I was involved in sports and Student Government. Through these hobbies I was able to make friends wherever I moved. The hobbies also let me realize I love helping others and teaching. I am currently a college student declaring an Elementary Education major. I am preparing for a mission and hope to serve as soon as possible!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because through all the struggles I have had in my life, Heavenly Father helped me through them. Heavenly Father is always there for us and I know this to be true because of the love I feel daily. When I was about 13 years old, I was the only active member in my family. We were taking a trip to Palmyra, New York to see the Sacred Grove where Joseph Smith, a prophet in this dispensation, received the first vision. Upon entering the Sacred Grove we were instructed to find a quiet spot where we could pray on our own. I wondered around for about 20 minutes and could help but feel alone. This was the first youth activity where my sister wasn't with me. a few minutes later, I sat down in one spot, but I didn't feel right about it. I sat down in another spot but then I saw a fox and realized that wasn't the spot I wanted to be in. Finally a man came up and told me that we were going to be heading back in about 5 minutes. Just then I looked in front of me and there was a friend of mine. He said, "Allie, come sit by me!" I was immediately filled with happiness, but it was a happiness unlike any other feeling I've had before. I sat down beside hi and prayed to know that the church is true. I wondered why I was the only one in my family to continue to go to church. I wondered what I was doing wrong. I prayed and said "If I am not in the right church, let me know." In that moment I swear the sky was brighter. I heard this still and small voice say "you already know, why are you asking?" I knew the church was true, I just needed to be reminded of that. Having my friend tell me to sit with him made me realize, even if I am attending church alone, I am never alone. The church is made up of our brothers and sisters who love us. We are a family. Ever since that moment I knew the church was true, and nothing can ever change my mind. I know our Heavenly Father loves each of us personally, I see it all the time.

How I live my faith

I have been very active in my church for many years. While in my youth I have served as second councilor to the youth 12-14 (the youngest young women), president of the youth 14-16, and president of the youth 16-18. While I was president of the youth 16-18, I was also president of the youth in my surrounding area. I would plan socials and activities for people. Currently I am in charge of ward prayer, otherwise known as a Sunday social for people in our church.
