Hi I'm Toni

I grew up in the Philippines and now living in Georgia, USA. I am a striving artist & a mom to two beautiful girls. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to 2 beautiful girls. I am in my 30s. I grew up in Philippines but I have been in the US since June 2009 and I love it. I am nothing special just someone who keeps trying. Three things are important to me: My family, My photography and the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. My family is what gives me reason to live life, My photography is what kept me sane from all the chaos in life and the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ centers the Atonement(sacrifice) of Jesus Christ, which through faith in Christ and His grace in that power of atonement I found faith in myself to reach my full potential. My weaknesses become strength and my capabilities and capacities are expanding to keep learning and to be better in what I do - Motherhood, Photography and as a servant of God. God has allowed us weaknesses so we can turn to Him for help that way we learn who He is by blessing us with power and strength to succeed with all the best things we want to do in life. The Atonement of Christ is one tool in life that I use everyday, to heal pain, wounds, frustration and to find hope and faith so I can be happy in life and function well. I was baptized when I was 8 and grew up as a mormon because of tradition but later on in life I go through struggles, afflictions and challenges and with intense soul searching, scripture study and prayer I was blessed to gain a personal witness of the authenticity and truthfulness of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I studied everything from the basic teaching or doctrine, I read scriptures daily and I pleaded for His help in understanding my situation, life, how to handle problems and increasing faith in Him. I found all the answers to my troubles in His teachings even in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I went through many set backs in life, feeling inadequate, sad, lonely, not good enough, failure, frustrated and all the pain that the world has to offer. I felt that the world is big yet I don't have a place in it. I felt that life is unfair but as I dig deeper in the Gospel I came to understand that life in the end will be fair and can be fair now. Through God's plan of Happiness, I came to understand God's mercy and justice. The whole doctrine of Jesus Christ saves me from hopelessness, from pain, frustration etc. It promises a sweet reward to those who are patient, I call it even a do over in life from all the mistakes I did. It makes me feel that nothing is wasted in life, all we experience are for our own good. It promises a second chance and a so much better resolution. It makes life worth living and experiences worthwhile. It gives greater joy and meaning to push and strive harder. Even if the Mormon doctrine were a make believe, I could say at least I had something that helped me live a better life that is not found elsewhere that in the end there is nothing to lose but because the teachings are true I have so much much more to gain! It's all win and win and win situation. It's like getting the best of both worlds. So I am still a Mormon because there is no better teaching or offer out there. Even if someone were to make it up, still nobody can come up with a better plan. Even if I had to give everything I have i'd do so in a heartbeat but the best thing in life is free. Most importantly, I received God's answer that this is His doctrine. So I encourage you to ask God if this is right for you. He is given you so much and He will never deceive you in His answer.

How I live my faith

I was recently called as a ward missionary in our local congregation. My calling is to help the full time missionaries as they invite people to come unto Christ. It has been really neat seeing how much the Gospel of Jesus Christ change people's hearts and how much it brings good tidings and great joy! I know I am not perfect and I mess up a lot but everyday I try harder to live a life that pleases our Heavenly Father. I know that it is hard but it is gonna be worth it. Everyday I like to strengthen my personal relationship with God through prayer, scripture study and trying my best to be more obedient to His commandments. With God's help I found happiness in learning from my failures and mistakes. I accepted that as human I don't have everything it takes to be the best that I wanna be temporally and spiritually therefore, everyday I rely on God's grace through faith that he fills in the gap in my life. The strength that I need to make it through tough times, the learning ability that I need to figure out how to be the best at what I do, the patience to myself as I am taking my time to get to where I wanna be in life and the pure love of Christ to be more charitable to everyone around me.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Toni
I know that God created us perfect. With full potential and perfect sound mind and body but because of the fall of Adam and Eve we become vulnerable to temptations, we became weak and prone to making mistakes and sinning. Because of our weaknesses and sins we became limited in doing the best things in life. We suffer from all bad things. Because we are not powerful enough to overcome our sufferings on our own Jesus Christ had to atone for our sins. He went to the Garden of Gethsemane to take upon him the sins of the world that caused pain, sickness, sorrow and all that. He prayed for us. Now it did two things for my life. One, as I rely in the Lord's power of Atonement through faith in Christ I can repent of my sins and forgiveness is made available through Christ making me clean to enter in the Kingdom of God in time and if I endure. Two, as I repent and the Lord forgives He pours His spirit in me & with the spirit of God I am able to expand my abilities, capacities & capabilities to handle life's challenges, endure afflictions, to be patient, to be more charitable & to make my dreams come true. As a result blessings come and I can live a better life. The Atonement of Christ gives me freedom all around, here & there. I can never repay Him for what He did. The best thing I can do is take advantage of it by repenting of my sins and exercising faith in Him but when we do that He gives us more life we are more able to achieve great things. I am eternally indebted to Him. Show more Show less
