Hi I'm Makaela

I'm from Sparks, Nevada. I play college softball and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I play college softball at a small school in Nebraska. I am a Sociology and Mathematics double major.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church so I don't have an amazing conversion story or anything like that. However, what I do have is a whole lifetime of being blessed by the gospel. Growing up I did what my parents told me. Looking back on my life now I never really had that "ah-ha" moment when I suddenly realized that what I was doing was right and true. Growing up my dad hated the church and wanted nothing to do that. That belief eventually became one of my older brothers. For me it was hard to watch them go through life not knowing the joy it could bring. As a kid I had a hard time with bullies and stuff like that but when I got home I would sing a primary song or read a scripture from the Book of Mormon and an overwhelming peace would come over me. As time went on many of my friends from school started swearing, sneaking out, and drinking. This scared me. I would get a horrible feeling anytime I was around any of that almost like it was a darker place. I now am able to say that was the Holy Ghost in my life telling me that what was happening wasn't right. Now I am in college, which was a hard choice for me to make. I had a lot of schools to choose from but none of them seemed right. Then all of a sudden out of the blue I received a letter from the school I currently attend. It was all the way in Nebraska and a school I had never heard of before.I came on a visit and fell in love. There was this nagging feeling that this is where I was supposed to be. One night I decided to sit down and pray to God asking him where I should go to school. Nebraska was the only thing on my mind. I prayed for weeks and got the same answer every time. So here I am in Nebraska with more blessings than I could count. I am able to get a great education paid for and fulfill my dreams of playing college ball. I have the best friends anyone could ask for. I am learning valuable life experiences being on my own. If I did not have the gospel in my life I wouldn't have these blessings.

How I live my faith

I attend a young single adult ward while I am at school. Here I attend church meetings on Sundays and also events on Monday evenings.
