Hi I'm Nate Smith

I was born in Texas and raised in California and now reside in Texas. I love to cook, fish and play frisbee and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Nate. I grew up in California but was born and currently reside in Texas. I love the beach and everything that has anything to do with the ocean, from spearfishing to skim boarding to building sand castles. Fishing is by far my favorite hobby and I take any time I can to wet a hook. I also love to cook. Both sweet and savory. I would love to someday own a restaurant. I am also working towards achieving my Eagle Scout rank. I just recently graduated high school and have been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Philippines Angeles mission where I will be speaking Tagalog. I am very excited about this call and the date I leave cannot seem to come fast enough.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the Church. My mom her entire life, and my dad was baptized when he was 13 years old. However, this is not the reason that I am a Mormon. As I have grown up, I have studied the scriptures, both the Book of Mormon and the Bible. And while my learning is not large, it seems to me that the teachings of this Church fit into the teachings of ancient prophets. I have felt the Spirit of God testify to me personally of this. This Church is truly the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every week when I attend church and have the right mindset and have kept myself clean this feeling comes undeniably to me. This is my motivation to go on a mission as well. To let others in the world to know of the truth that can bring us back to our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I love being a Mormon. There is always some sort of service activity going on in which I can participate and help others. I constantly strive to find those who I can be of service to. I am an assistant to the leader of our congregation and am specifically called to preside over a group of about 7 young men who are juniors and seniors in high school. They are truly my brethren and we can always find solace in each others company. Every day as I work I also try to set an example for what a Mormon should be. Morality and cleanliness are a top priority in my life and I attempt to be like Jesus Christ in all that I do.
