Hi I'm Shane

I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah. I am in the National Guard. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the oldest of six children. There are five boys and one girl. I love all sports but in high school I focused mainly on track and wrestling. I enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard as a medic when I was 17. I did my basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia and my medic training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Then I went back to Georgia for airborne school. I love the outdoors especially hiking and rock-climbing in the beautiful canyons near my home. Last year my father bought horses and I enjoy working and riding with them. Currently I am not going to school but I am working full time at a physical therapist clinic.

Why I am a Mormon

I am either an 8th or a 9th generation Mormon, depending on what genealogy line you look at. However that is not the reason I have chosen to stay with this church. I have chosen to remain faithful because I know from the bottom of my heart this church has the fullness of Christ's church. I remember the first time I really began to gain my own knowledge of the truth. I was asked to dress up like the prophet Joseph Smith and read some of his words to young children. I was overwhelmed with the spirit and began to cry. I could hardly make it through the verses I was supposed to read. I know that Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God. I know he saw my Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to this earth.

How I live my faith

I have my call to serve a mission in Japan soon and I can hardly wait. In the meantime I live my faith by attending church weekly, teaching other members in their home, serving as assistant scout master, attending a weekly missionary preparation class, and by studying the scriptures with my father every morning before work.
