Hi I'm Yahaira Pacheco

I'm 21, I was born in Mexico and grew up in Arizona. I live in the Netherlands. I love anything that involves new experiences.

About Me

I live in the Netherlands. I'm currently a missionary in the Washington D.C. North mission. I've worked at a grocery store and a call center and took a couple online university classes with UMUC. I love all sports but mainly enjoy basketball, volleyball, and soccer. I enjoy learning new skills, interior design, taking pictures, baking, travelling, the outdoors, ice cream, watching tv and movies, cosmetolegy, and fashion. After the mission I am most likely going into the Utah National Guard and will attend BYU-I and transfer to the U.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom, siblings, and I were converted when I was 8. My mom went through 2 divorces until she married my step dad who is a member. He's in the military, which is why we are living in The Netherlands. I am a Mormon because I can testify of the hope it gives people. I've gone through many things that someone should never have to go through, but this gospel has provided me with the strength to endure it and anything else that's thrown my way. God has always answered my prayers in His own timing but in a way that is specific to my needs. I've been able to learn so much about the Savior through others and I am blessed to have the faith to believe their words. I know families can be together for eternity. I know that if you have faith in Christ and Heavenly Father, you will never be alone, but empowered. I know the Atonement of Christ can heal us, change our natures and turn our hearts to Him. I love this gospel so much and I know that through it I can get back to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Being a missionary, I can exercise my faith by using this time to really sacrifice time to serve the Lord and to do it cheerfully and sincerely. I've seen a great change already in myself just by realizing that this is a time for me to focus on helping people see that they too can turn to the Lord for anything and everything. I thrive off of being able to give people the opportunity to have a close relationship with God and to be able to lean on Him when the going gets tough. I'm excited to be serving here in Washington DC and to share this amazing gospel with others. I live my faith daily by studying the scriptures, praying to my Father in heaven for constant guidance and looking for opportunities to serve and strengthen others.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Yahaira Pacheco
The temple is a sacred place where the Spirit of God is felt and the closest thing on earth to heaven. Only some members of the church can enter the temple because those that can enter go through interviews to determine their worthiness to enter. They obtain a temple recommend which is a slip of paper that allows them to enter the temple and perform saving ordinances for themselves and for those that have passed away to give them the opportunity to meet all the qualifications for God's kingdom. In the temples people can be married for all eternity, as well as for the dead; they perform baptisms and get confirmed as members of the church in behalf of the dead. These are among the things that goes on in temples and all the things therein are for the purpose of receiving the gospel of Jesus Christ and binding ourselves here on earth as well as in the heavens.
