Hi I'm Forrest Mitchell!

I get "Run, Forrest! Run!" a lot. I live to be happy and help others do the same. I love Music and my crazy family! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Although we've moved around more times than I can count, I did most of my growing up in a very rural town in Northern Illinois; technically a village. When I was nearing my teen years, we moved all the way across the country to Henderson, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas, which Is where we've been ever since. Before I left for to serve a two year mission for the Church in Rancho Cucamonga, California, I moved to Cincinnati, Ohio with one of my 5 older siblings and her family, and I plan on settling there eventually. I try to just be myself, and a lot of the time, that means being different. I'm the kind of person who does their own thing. I like things that are different, and do things that are different, and honestly, It's a lot of fun! I love things like old folk songs, history, sounding like I know what I'm talking about by learning and using big words, and playing obscure sports with friends. I dabble in acoustic instrument repair, and I play both the Banjo and Guitar. Of the places I love to be the most, the tie for first goes to eating pizza and/or other food with my parents and siblings at midnight (but usually later...), and being on stage playing music, and hearing the applause when the song is over. My dream is to play music for a living, or to own and operate a music store. Maybe both. My plan is to get a degree in marketing or communications, and see where it takes me! Either option would give me plenty of chances to do what I love: Make people happy!

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon, because I've seen what my life can become if I do. I grew up with many good examples of success around me, and I was able to define what it meant to me at a young age: success to me, is being able to provide for your family, and being able to dedicate most of your time to them as well. Success is having the means and the time to give back, and to influence those around you to do so as well. Success is loving the way you choose to live, and never letting anyone tell you not to The people I've met in my life who are most "successful" have all been people I've met through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and more importantly, they live the things they've been taught. I've known too many people who fall away from their faith, and live lesser lives, with happiness that is merely on the surface, and dependent on whatever surrounds them, and I've seen people who never had "faith" and do just fine and vice-versa. What kills me to watch either, is the fact that I know that neither is living up to their full potential! Because of the happiness I've seen the gospel of Jesus Christ bring people, I want to reach my full potential. I want to become the person that my Father in Heaven wants me to be. This is why I follow what I've learned to be his true gospel on this earth. This is why I am a Mormon! I know that we have a loving Father in Heaven, who wants the best for us. I know that He shares his gospel through his chosen prophets, and He cannot, and more importantly, WILL not lead us astray. He only wants us to be happy, and that happiness is what we strive for, and search for, and have faith to find.

How I live my faith

Individuality and uniqueness are each very important in our religion. This is how I live my faith most of the time: by being different! I like to unwind by writing and playing music. I've found this to be an effective way of sharing my beliefs, and an exercise in living them. When I write music, I try to let my religion influence it, and my relationship with my Father in Heaven have an impact in the things I'm writing down. What I write is determined mostly by the things I'm feeling. I turn off all of my filters, and lay it all out on the page in front of me. The things that travel from head to hand reflect my deepest thoughts, feelings, and desires. It's a chance to be honest with myself, and also with God. There is no better feeling in the world, than someone listening to what you wrote, and connecting with it. God has given us gifts and talents to help ourselves and others, and using them to fulfill that purposes provides a feeling of love that is unparalleled. It would be so much easier to write about less emotional, more "entertaining" topics, but I choose to embrace what I believe, and let it continue to shape who I am at all times, and in everything I do. I am also currently serving a full time mission here in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Serving a mission, for me, represents an opportunity to be completely and totally focused on helping others to live the best life that they can. When I left, I left all of my personal affairs behind, and turned my life over to the Lord, to let Him shape me into the instrument He needs me to be to bless the lives of others and help them receive the only true and lasting happiness in this life, as they come closer to Him, and feel of His love for each one of us.
