Hi I'm Carl

I've lived most of my life around Salt Lake City, Utah, but I have also lived in San Antonio, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona.

About Me

I'm a retired certified public accountant and a graduate of the University of Utah. We have eight children and twenty-four grandchildren. Over the years of my life, I've enjoyed golf, skiing, tennis, gardening, and just spending time working in my yard. In addition to our church service, my recent activities include traveling with my wife, playing golf with my young grandsons, and going to their athletic events.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a "Mormon"? Like many people, I initially joined the Mormon church at the age of ten because of the influence of my mother and grandmother. As a young man I fell away from those things that I was taught, but when I was in thirties a traumatic experience that threatened the life of my new born son brought me to my knees in prayer. I believe that it was the Holy Ghost that testified to me that if I prayed in faith that my prayer would be answered and that my small son would survive. I followed the promptings of the Holy Ghost and my son survived. I have tried to faithfully live the commandments since that time. Since committing myself to faithfully live the Gospel of Jesus Christ I've had other sad experiences in my life including the death of my dear wife at the early age of forty years old, and the death of a small granddaughter. But my faith has helped me through these times in ways that are very personal and difficult to put into words. I can firmly testify that the Lord does answer our prayers and buoys us up in our times of sorrow and difficulty. I love serving with good LDS people. They are kind, generous, and willing to help whenever called upon to do so. We are indeed a people who go about trying to do good to others. We don't really care whether those in need are members of our church or not. If they need help we are willing to serve.

How I live my faith

One of the most rewarding things I've done recently is served a mission teaching English to Spanish speaking people and helping to introduce many of them to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have also enjoyed working as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. Temples are very special places where I feel really close to my Heavenly Father as I go there to help those who are in need of spiritual blessings. I have also recently enjoyed working with our church group as we helped a single mother build bedrooms in the basement of her home which she hopes to rent to supplement her other income.
