Hi I'm Josh

I grew up in Idaho. I'm a father of three. I'm a dental student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for five years and love my wife and three kids. I grew up playing baseball. I love snowboarding, golfing, racquetball, and four wheeling. I served a mission in Brazil and absolutely loved it. Even though I love sports, any spare moment growing up was spent flipping through books of house plans. I would dream about walking through each of the houses, imagining me and my future family. I've always wanted a family of my own -- a wife to love, provide for, and always be with; and kids to run around and play with. I am lucky enough to be living my dream each day. After postponing college for two years to serve a mission, I started working towards my dream of becoming a dentist. Even though the road to becoming a dentist includes eight difficult years of studies, my true desire in life is about having a family. My faith says that God is our Heavenly Father and that He sent us to the Earth to gain a body like His. As part of our experience on Earth, He blessed us with families to help us. Knowing how important families are to this life, I didn't want to wait until I was done with my education to start my family. As I am just over a year away from finishing, I couldn't imagine missing out on all the fun and joy that I've had along the way with my family. I believe that God only wants us to be happy and the best way for us to discover that happiness is by learning what He expects of us and following it.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though my parents are Mormon and I always have been, I wouldn't want to be anything else. There isn't anything in my life that hasn't been affected by my understanding and love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My desire for an education, my desire for a family, and my desire to live with God again all comes from my understanding of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. I love being Mormon! I find comfort and joy in Jesus Christ. I want my children to know this and I want everyone to know just how much God and His Son, Jesus Christ love each of us. This life is hard and there are many confusing messages going around society but there is safety and surety in the teachings of Christ. There is no need to wonder or be confused about anything in this life, God has a plan for us and it is meant to make us happy.

How I live my faith

It's Monday morning and there's a prayer in my heart as I leave my family sleeping at home to catch the bus to school. I can't stay home each day to protect them but my prayer is that Heavenly Father will. I think of them often and during lunch I look at a story from the scriptures that I want to share with them tonight, Monday night is family night. I look forward to walking into the house after school there is always one, two, or three little voices running towards me waiting to be thrown in the air. It's 6:15pm and dinner is on the table so we say a prayer to thank Heavenly Father for the food and we eat and talk about our day. After dinner we sing a few songs then sit down to read a scripture and talk about Jesus. The kids love the treat that we get after family night. Tuesday starts it all over again. At bed time the kids brush their teeth and we kneel by their beds to say prayers before hopping into bed to read illustrated scriptures and sing a song. Our little girl loves the story of baby Jesus. Once the kids are in bed I have a couple hours to study before I read scriptures with my wife and we say our prayers together. Wednesday after dinner I leave my family at 6:50pm to go to the church building for young men activities and boy scouts. I am a leader in the young men group and I spend Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons teaching and helping them with their activities and responsibilities. Friday night's are date night. Once the kids are in bed my wife and I spend time together playing Nintendo, reading a book, or just talking. This gives us a chance to slow down from all that is going on in life and remember the most important thing we have, our marriage. Saturday is a fun day where we clean the house and do yard work. We also try to go to the temple every other month where we enjoy family time in the car and get to feel Heavenly Father's love. Sunday is church day with no thought of school or work. The kids love going to their church classes.
