Hi I'm David

I was born in Provo, but spent most of my life in California and Oregon. I was raised in the church, and love science and math.

About Me

I play the bagpipes, am a huge geek, love science, and love making things or doing experiments. I grew a passion for science (particularly for astronomy, chemistry, and some areas of physics) when I was in elementary school. I subsequently went to science oriented middle and high schools. After I serve my mission which I will be leaving on in less than a week, I will attend college, and hope to eventually get a PhD in materials engineering. I'm an avid gamer (mostly sandbox type games) and a big fan of many science fiction shows and movies such as Doctor Who and Star Trek.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know what I have been taught is true. Even though I was raised in the church, and some have tried to call me out on simply doing what I was told to do by my parents, in reality I rely on my own testimony more than that of my parents. If they were to fall away, and my family no longer went to church every Sunday, I'd drive myself every time because I believe that the Gospel is true. I've received my testimony as a result of reading the Book of Mormon, from spiritual experiences and the influence of the Spirit. I know that the Book of Mormon in the word of God, that we have a living prophet, and that the Gospel is true, and I will not deny it, here, there, or anywhere.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by performing my callings to the best of my ability. When I have an appointment to share a message with a family in my ward, I prepare the lesson far in advance so that when the time comes I can deliver it thoughtfully and effectively. At times I have been called to my youth group presidencies (once a secretary, then counselor, and later as president), and looked after the other youth with diligence and care. I will also be serving the Church further as I go on my mission, an unpaid two year proselyting trip to share what I know, and help those who are in need of aid.
