Hi I'm Rebecca Vorhies

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old. I attended BYU-Idaho for a year studying to be a therapist for adolescents in rehab centers. I've worked in child care for the last 4 years and love playing with the children and teaching them new things. I love to sing and perform. There is just something about getting on stage and forgetting who you are, just singing. I grew up in the military so I have lived around the world, including Japan. I love to travel and get to know different cultures and different people. I am currently a missionary serving for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Provo, UT, Spanish Speaking.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but that doesn't mean I didn't stray at times. I always attended church, only missing a Sunday when we were out of town or were too sick to attend. I relied of my parent's testimony, or belief and knowledge while growing up and never had a doubt that I was a member of the true church of Jesus Christ. During my early teenage years I was like any other teenager who thought they were independent and I began to doubt. I no longer wanted to attend, but because I was still under the direction of my parents I did anyway, not wanting to disappoint them. There were a couple years that I stayed this way, not wanting to go to church. It wasn't until I was 17 and my bishop called my into his office that I realized that I needed to make a change. l started reading The Book of Mormon and I began gaining my own testimony. I went to the temple with the youth of my ward to perform baptisms for the dead. I will never forget the feeling that came over me as I entered into those waters once again. A warm feeling of comfort and love rushed over my entire body and I knew that my Heavenly Father loved me and knew me. He knew what my thoughts were and he knew how little I felt. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. He sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to suffer and die for us. He knows us. He knows of the trials that we face no matter how small they may be. I know this is the true church on the earth today. I know that through Joseph Smith the church was restored so that we may know of its truthfulness. I know that these are the last days and that this is the time to prepare to meet God. I am serving a mission in the Utah Provo Mission to share this with others in the language of Spanish and I could not be happier to share this glad message!

How I live my faith

Living my faith has not always been easy. Growing up I never had a lot of members of the church around me and so at times I had to stand up for what I believed. Living my faith is simply living the teachings of Jesus Christ. I live my life in a way that my Heavenly Father would be proud of me. Although I am no perfect I try my best to live the gospel everyday that if Jesus Christ was in the room I would not be ashamed.
