Hi I'm Bob

Along with my wife and children, I am a Mormon, also known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We love our Savior.

About Me

I am a Mormon. My parents on both sides go back several generations in the LDS Church. However, the last two generations were not active "Mormons." Even so, they were hard-working, good people and would have been considered to be good Christians. Late in life, my parents started going to Church, because they realized that life was getting short and they feared that they may not be taking advantage of the opportunity to be an eternal family. Personally, I love being a Mormon. My wife and I have always been active Latter-day Saints and raised our children in that environment. They, too, are active LDS and as such, avoided nearly all of the problems that following the world can bring to individuals and families.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, even though my parents were not active in the Church. I was considered to be less active, until I met the girl that I married. She was an active Mormon and then so was I. I am a Mormon today because the Holy Ghost has witnessed to me the truthfulness of the restored gospel. The Spirit has whispered to me that the Book of Mormon is true, thereby confirming that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, Joseph Smith is truly a Prophet and the gospel has been restored to the earth once again. I cannot deny my testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's Church once again on the earth. In reading the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, it is clear to me that Prophets, such as the Apostles Peter and Paul, testified to the people that in the last days the truth would be restored to earth after a falling away and that Christ would come again after that restoration. I have always been amazed that the Christian world has not searched diligently for a restoration of the Priesthood, even though there have been great men, such as Martin Luther, Roger Williams, John Calvin and others start their own churches, because they knew that the leaders of the existing Church through the Dark Ages had become wicked in many cases. God always took the Priesthood from the earth during those periods of time in the world's history, that is, during the time of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, etc. That would include after the crucifixion of the Savior and the deaths of His Apostles. Bottom line for me, the scriptures in the Old and New Testaments, combined with latter-day scriptures like the Book of Mormon, confirm the need for and the actuality of the restoration of the gospel and the Priesthood.

How I live my faith

It seems as if I have spent my whole life either working with the youth or serving as a missionary. I served as a Bishop many years ago as a young man and thoroughly enjoyed working closely with members, especially the youth. I also served as a Mission President in the Dominican Republic, which was a combination of preaching the gospel and working with young people. I was raised in a home where my parents did not attend Church until late in life, but they did teach my brothers and me to be responsible and do what you said you would do. Therefore, as a home teacher visiting various member families over the years, I made sure that I made at least one visit to my families each month. I have always enjoyed getting to know people and have found great rewards in helping them whenever needed. I have found time to support my wife in her PTA positions and personally have served on various Community Councils affiliated with the schools our eight children have attended. As a businessman, I took the time to help the track coach with the distance runners in cross country and track. I enjoyed working with these committed youth for eight years at the high school level.
