Hi I'm Ky Kartchner

I'm a musician, technology buff, lover of all things chocolate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Ky! I was born in a small town in southern Utah, but moved to northern Utah about 3 years later. I was then raised in a family of six over the next 15 years. I have a grandpa who was a country singer, and he played a big part in my desire to learn guitar. I got my first guitar when I turned 8 years old, and have been playing (kind of on and off) for the past 11 or so years. Having been heavily involved with choir as a member of my high school's chamber and large group choirs, I also really enjoy singing. On any given day I'll probably sing most of it. Also in high school, I participated as a senior class officer in student government, and in a concurrent enrollment engineering program. I have enjoyed participating in school musicals, one-act plays, and as a background actor in movies. Technology-wise I have done anything from web, game, and app design, to programming, 3D animation, and video editing. After my full-time mission, I plan to attend college to study computer engineering with a minor in business.

Why I am a Mormon

Simply stated, because I know the teachings are true. Being born and raised in a family of "Mormons," this church has always been a part of my life, but I still have had to develop my own testimony. My testimony has come through attending church, studying the Book of Mormon and asking God if it is true, and by applying the principles I learn and by acting on answers I receive. This does not mean I haven't had my share of doubts though. But I have found that through studying the scriptures, attending church, using a variety resources such as lds.org, then praying to our Heavenly Father for guidance, any questions we have will be answered and any doubts will be addressed. I have seen this work many times in my life, and I feel a great appreciation for the guidance the Church and restored gospel have offered me. My testimony is the strongest it has ever been, and I hope to share it - and the joy the gospel brings - with those around me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church meetings each week, participating in ward activities, and by looking for ways to help those around me. I strive my best each day to follow the example Jesus Christ has set for me. I am currently living my faith by serving a full-time mission in the Arizona Phoenix Mission. As a missionary, I seek to share the blessings I have seen in my life with those around me - looking for opportunities to invite and help them come closer to God and Jesus Christ by learning of and taking part in the restored gospel.
