Hi I'm John

I I joined the church as a high school senior in Hawaii when I was 17. I currently live in Shelton Washington.

About Me

I joined the church when I was 17. After graduating from high school I went to Portland State College for a year and then transferred to Church College of Hawaii for a year. I then returned to Oregon and worked for a year. The Bishop approached me about serving a mission and I accepted. I soon found myself in Hong Kong where I served for 30 months. It was one of the highlights of my life. Upon returning home I went back to school and joined the Naval Reserve. The Vietnam Nam war was ongoing and I found myself on active duty once again back in Hawaii. I met my wife there and we were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple. The next 20 years involved many moves and the addition of two boys and two girls to our family. Shortly after retirement my wife and I divorced. Two years later I met my current wife, Sharon, and we were married in the Seattle Temple. We have since lived in Arizona, Saudi Arabia and Washington. We have recently gone on four humanitarian trips to Central America with other church members. This past week we received our mission call to the Germany Frankfurt Mission as Military Relations Missionaries. We are excitedly awaiting our departure and feel privilege d to be able to serve in this capacity.

Why I am a Mormon

After hearing the missionary discussions it just made sense and I knew what they were telling me was true. I knew that Joseph Smith was a Prophet and that the Book Of Mormon was true. Everything after that was easy to accept and when the missionaries asked me to be baptized I accepted and have been happy ever since.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in the church. I have really enjoyed serving as Gospel Doctrine Instructor. Another calling I enjoyed was Ward Mission Leader. It was so much fun working with the missionaries and helping them be successful. Currently I have been serving in the Stafford Creek Branch as Branch Clerk. Over the past two years my wife and I have gone on 4 humanitarian trips to various Central American Countries.
