Hi I'm Barbie

I have lived in Arizona all my life. I love animals & Disneyland. My husband and I have been married since 1996. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love Disneyland and Disney Movies. If I could live at Disneyland, I would. I love animals. We have 5 cats and one giant dog. I have had hamsters, mice, ferrets, rats, birds and would love to experience many more. I have volunteered with our local zoo and along with working with many other animals, was fortunate enough to get to help out with the care and feeding of baby white tigers. I have also fostered and bottle fed many kittens through a local no kill shelter. I am married and adore my husband. I was an insurance agent before I stopped working. I do deal with depression and anxiety that ranges from moderate to severe depending on the day. It can be a struggle and I am so grateful for the love of my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the blessings they send me and the strength I am given by knowing that I am a daughter of God and he knows me and loves me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I chose to be. I was raised Mormon, but my mother did not let me get baptized at 8 years old, which is the normal age. She, instead, decided to do something unusual. She decided to take me to other churches so I could learn about other religions and I would then be allowed to join any religion I chose. To this day, I enjoy learning what other religions believe and why. I went to many different churches and met many wonderful people. Overall, it was a time of growth for me. I was able to appreciate that we are all children of God no matter how we choose to worship him. Jesus came to this earth, suffered in the garden of Gethsamane, and died on the cross for ALL of us. I did choose to be baptized and become a Mormon at 12 years old. So, after all of that, why am I a Mormon and not something else? It comes down to faith and prayer. I prayed and asked God if the Mormon church was true. Was Joseph Smith a true prophet? Is the Book of Mormon real? The answer I received was a very powerful "Yes". I have faith that those things and many others are true. We have a living prophet upon this earth. I, having been sealed in the Temple to my husband for time and all eternity have created an eternal family with him. I am a daughter of God. I love him more than I can express. Jesus died for me so I will have the opportunity to live with him and my Father in Heaven again. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I will start by saying, I am not perfect, I know there is no way for me to be. What I do is my best. I follow the teachings of the church. I do not drink, I do not smoke, I do not drink coffee or certain types of tea. I try to go to church as often as possible. Sometimes my depression is overwhelming and I have to stay at home. I understand God sees my imperfections and knows my heart. He loves me for who I am and through his grace and the atonement of Jesus Christ I have the ability to return to him. I was the preparedness specialist for our church group. It is suggested we be prepared for emergencies by having and have basic materials like first aid kits to help our families and possibly others if there is a natural disaster or other issue. It is also recommended we have a one year supply of food for our family in case of natural disaster or even personal financial hardship. It was my place to help people to calculate and prepare for those needs. I also visit another woman from our church each month to bring her an uplifting message, see if there is anything she needs and just be able to enjoy our friendship.
