Hi I'm Becky

I'm a Department Manager for Walmart, a Child Development Associate mentor for the University, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The thing I enjoy doing the most is Family History. I spend a lot of time helping my family and friends find their ancestors and once in a while I am able to find one of my own. I love reading about their lives in journals and learning more about the time periods and places where they lived.

Why I am a Mormon

From the day I was born, my parents taught me about our brother and Savior Jesus Christ and about the love Heavenly Father has for each one of his children. As a child I loved singing primary songs. I learned all of them, and even made up more gospel centered songs by adding my own lyrics to the tunes I learned from cigarette commercials. These songs became a source of comfort and guidance in my life. I married in the temple and that marriage didn't work out because of abuse and adultery, so I raised our six children by myself, but I was never alone. The Lord was always there to help and, in-spite of the contention between their parents, my children are great kids! Even though stats show an increased risk, my children beat the odds. I attribute this to our Lord, who watched over them when I could not. At times in my life I've lost faith and minimized my involvement in church activities, but whenever I did, I felt something was missing. The emptiness I felt always lead me back to full involvement. I am a Mormon because when I live the gospel, I feel peace. I know I can ask for help and protection and I know I will be comforted when times are hard. Because of my experiences, I am unable or unwilling to trust others. but I know I can trust our Heavenly Father, He fills in the gaps and makes up for my inadequacies when it comes to my family. I never want to feel the loneliness I felt when my life was not centered around gospel principals. I know God lives, I know he loves us, I know he wants us to be happy and I know he yearns for our safe return. The Lord hasn't forgotten us, there are living prophets and apostles on the earth today. They were chosen to guide, direct, teach, heal, and testify in our day, just as prophets of old. If we but listen to their counsel we can have peace in our hearts, even if their is little hope for peace in the world at large. I say these things in the name of Jesus christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I am quite shy and don't relate well with others. I prefer to stay out of the spotlight and do things quietly. Perhaps this is why most of my church activities involve teaching our youngest children. I have a deep love for all children and want them to learn the gospel while they are young. Whenever possible, I try to help the children recognize our Heavenly Father's love for them. I teach them that Heavenly Father wants them to be happy and I try to teach them correct principles that lead to happiness. I can't do this without the Lord's help, so I try to help the children feel and recognize the spirit whenever I'm with them.
