Hi I'm Satomi

I grew up in Idaho. I have an eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa and have served a full-time mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary serving in the Missouri St. Louis Mission. I have an eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. I play the piano, and I love playing in sacrament meeting. I have loved being a missionary. I have two brothers, and I have been a member my whole life.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom is a convert to the church. My dad served a full-time mission. I grew up in the church and have loved it since I was a little girl. As I grew older, I started wondering whether it was true. I read the Book of Mormon several times, and wasn't quite sure about whether it was true. I decided to pray about it. As I prayed, I felt the Spirit testifying to me that it was true. I have come to know that the Lord hears and answers our prayers if we seek Him diligently. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. As a missionary, I had a lot of opportunities to serve those around me. I loved serving people because it gave me the opportunity to share what I believe. Because of my vision impairment a lot of people asked why I went on a mission. To answer that question, I went on a mission for a couple different reasons. One was because the Lord told me I needed to go. Another reason is because I knew that the Lord would guide me, sometimes literally. But the most important reason that I went was because I love the Lord and I want other people to taste of the joy that I feel as I live my faith.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

I was a missionary of this church before. My companions and I would go door to door to share messages about Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Even though many people would slam the door in our faces, we would try not to get discouraged. Our thought was on "[inviting] others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored Gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end", as it says in a manual that missionaries use called Preach My Gospel (p. 1). That is why Mormon missionaries proselyte. Missionaries just want others to find Christ and to become closer to Him. They just want to serve others in any way they can. Show more Show less
