Hi I'm Lyla

I'm from the island of Maui. I'm a full-time missionary! I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

About Me

I am 19 years old and currently serving the Lord as a full-time missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I will be serving in the Philippines for a period of 18 months. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to serve the Lord and that I am able to thank Him for all that He's done for me. He has given me a loving family and has blessed my life with such great examples who have helped me come unto Christ. Now it is my privilege to help my other brothers and sisters come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I am a Mormon because of the many blessings I have received through the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Like everyone on this earth I've had my fair shares of trials but those cannot compare to the countless blessings I have received. I was brought into the church by my faithful grandpa. Through him and his faith I was able to be raised in the church and to learn of the truthfulness of the gospel. He also baptized me into the church when I was 8. Thanks to him and my wonderful Ward family I was able to feel of the Savior's love and to see Christ's light shine through them throughout my life. There did come a time in my life where I was searching for who I was. I wanted to be a part of the crowd I wanted to be popular and I cared more about what others thought of me then what God thought of me. I grew up hearing that the gospel was true but I didn't know for myself. I was truly converted when I was 14. I made the effort to want to know if all the things I had been learning about in church was true. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and prayed daily to know if it was true and I received my answer and can assure everyone that IT IS TRUE! I know that if you want to know for yourself you need to make the effort to find out. You have to make that first step and know that Heavenly Father is there to take the next steps with you He wants you to know the truth and I know this gospel is true!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving each day to please my Father in Heaven. I live my faith by striving to be my best possible self each day. I live my faith by standing up for what I believe in-maybe not always vocally but through my actions. I live my faith by praying daily and reading the scriptures. I care about how God sees me. I want Him to be proud of the person I am today and I will work hard each day to show how much gratitude I have for all that He's done for me.
