Hi I'm Mackenzie

I grew up as the middle of 5 kids in a Navy family. After starting college I got married, earned my BA, had 2 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born the 3rd of 5 kids in a Navy family. We moved around quite a bit and I really enjoyed it for the most part. I met my husband halfway through college- of course we decided we were crazy about each other, got married in the temple, and finished college together. We each received our Bachelors degrees one week before we welcomed our first baby into the world. We are now parents to two kids and have found ourselves far away in NY, back in the college family life- me at home with the kiddos and he studying his bum off for a masters degree.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both converts to the church as young adults. They made it a priority to teach us about God, His Son, and His gospel. They also made it clear that we should learn and pray and know for ourselves. When I turned 8 they said it was my choice to be baptized or not. As a kid, my family moved around quite often (Virginia, California, Japan, Hawaii, Idaho...) each time finding a new home, new friends, new schools, new everything with only one exception: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The gospel didn't change dependent upon location and people... it is always constant and always true. Through many experiences, lessons, and prayers I was able to feel the comfort and peace that comes from knowing the truth. I was also able to feel the burning confirmation in my heart that this church this gospel is true and I cannot deny it. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and our Advocate in returning to live with Heavenly Father someday. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the gospel in these latter days. I know that Thomas S Monson is the living Prophet who has been called to lead and guide us in the world today. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that a man can get closer to God by living its teachings. I know the Bible is also the word of God. I know that families are central to the Creators plan and really do bring true meaning and lasting joy to our lives and families can be together forever. I know that the Temples are sacred and beautiful and imperative to the Plan of Salvation. The scriptures tell us that "by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matt 7:20 and 3 Nephi 14:20). I've put it to the test (anyone and everyone is invited to do so). I have seen, studied, learned of, and partaken of the fruit that comes from living the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The results were simple and conclusive: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true...that is why I am a Mormon :)

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints- I know it is true. I love it's influence in my life. I live it to the fullest! I currently live the gospel by participating in my local ward as a primary teacher (classes for the children), ward choir member, and visiting teacher (fellowshipping/ befriending/ caring for other sisters in my ward.) I also strive to live it in my daily life as a mom and wife and daughter of God and to fill my home with the gospel teachings. I believe that doing the little things- like teaching my children to pray often, to read scriptures, to go to church, to listen to the Prophet and his apostles, to be anxiously engaged in a good cause, to be as Jesus would have them be, and to lead by example in all things- makes a HUGE difference. By small and simple things are great things come to pass.
