Hi I'm Jordan Penner

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently serving a mission speaking Portuguese in the Cape Verde Praia mission. Afterwards, I'm aiming to obtain a PhD in Astrophysics. I'm a lover of music of all kinds, and I enjoy drama.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I have felt for myself that this church is true. I read the Book of Mormon, and I asked whether it was true. I have never felt any feeling like what I felt after asking that question. I felt this overwhelming sense of comfort and I just knew. I know that it really is that simple. Seriously. Just read the Book of Mormon, and ask if it's true. You'll know.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying whenever I can, for anything I need. I live it by reading the scriptures every day. I aim to be an example to those around me so that they may feel the light of Christ. Currently, I'm serving a mission in Cape Verde. I try my best to be a worthy and effective servant of the Lord.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Jordan Penner
A key concept in the gospel is the importance of having children. As homosexual relationships would not allow for this to happen, the church can't allow them. We believe that these desires impede us from creating families as the lord wishes us to do. We love people who choose these relationships just as we would love anyone else, as we know that each of us has a conflict in some form. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Jordan Penner
The simple answer is no, they don't. Teachings of the church can be applied to many aspects of many political parties. The church does not support any candidate or party, but it does encourage us to participate in politics if possible. Use the teachings of the church, and the viewpoints of the political parties in mind, and make a decision based on your own thoughts and feelings. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Jordan Penner
The Book of Mormon is a compilation of writings of ancient prophets, who originated in Jerusalem. A prophet named Lehi was told that Jerusalem would be destroyed, and was directed by the Lord to leave and head for the promised land, which is now known as the Americas. Their resulting posterity tells a story of those that believed in Christ and their struggles with those that would not accept Him. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Jordan Penner
To put it simply, fun. Because we constantly strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ, we are able to find peace and joy in our lives. Through prayer and scripture study, I'm able to find answers to questions that could have given me stress in my life. Knowing that God is willing to answer any of my questions and help me in any way in my life has brought so much happiness. Show more Show less
