Hi I'm Shane

Born and raised in Northern Utah, I love the outdoors and I will be serving a mission in Washington state. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. Hiking, backpacking, and camping are some of my favorite summer activities. The mountains are another home to me. There is nothing that I don't like about them. Music is a huge portion of my life, I don't always need to have my phone, but I need my music. I'm trying to teach myself how to sing. I've been told I'm not very good, but, it doesn't stop me, I'm that guy singing at the top of my lungs while I'm driving, and I'm okay with that! I graduated from high school and did a semester of college before I got my mission call to the Washington Tacoma Mission. College was hard, but worth it. It kept me sane, I couldn't only work at a dead-end job, I had to do something productive. I have several more years of college to go after I've completed my mission. Water sports are also a blast, it can be competitive swimming, boating, tubing, etc, I'm all for it. I did competitive swimming in school and loved it! Those who like the breaststroke are insane, backstroke is so much better! Like many people, I really enjoy being around people and those I love. Family and friends are huge influences for me and they make life so much more fun and enjoyable, they mean the world to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church. The reason I choose to be apart of this Church is because of the love I have for the people and the Lord. The good that it has all done for me, I don't know where to start. I don't know where I would be without the Church in my life, it is an incredible foundation for me as a person. I'm not the kind of person that is super churchy that try to push my religion on other, those kind of people bug me, I live my life as a Mormon because I love being Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church weekly, praying, reading my scriptures, and basically just trying to be the best person I can be. Since I'm going on my mission (I'll be that guy in the white shirt and tie with the black nametag on who comes knocking on doors) I'm doing everything I can to prepare spiritually. I'm reading my scriptures in so much depth I've learned an amazing amount about the Old Prophets and all of the struggles and how much the Lord really had a hand in all things. I'm attending church as often as I can and within the last year started participating in the lessons and discussions. There is so much more that I have yet to learn, and I'm excited to learn about it. When I'm in school going to Seminary or Institute I also learn so much, I also get to meet people, which is a bonus! The instructors really care and want to see everyone succeed, one of my seminary instructors taught me so much and helped me love the Church even more, simply by his example and how much he loved the Lord.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Absolutely not! Mormons help anyone in need. If you're struggling, go to the local bishop and meet with him, they're happy to help in anyway the can. Show more Show less
