Hi I'm Vickie

People seem to think I'm funny. Which is good. Sometimes haha. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a large family with 9 kids. They are my bestest friends, and my abs get a good workout from being around them haha! I am very musical, I play the cello and the piano, and I don't have a bad voice either. I've been on a mission for a while now, and I've come to have a sincere love for the people here. Which sounds really cliche. But seriously, between the people who live here and the missionaries that serve here, I've got some of my best friendships!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS family. When I was around 13-14 I wasn't sure if the Church really was true. The eternal picture was beautiful, but my life was getting increasingly harder. I had always felt the truth of these things, but I didn't know how to recognize it. I almost thought that maybe all of this was not true, for I had never truly sought for an answer of my own. I came to a point where I looked at my religion and finally sincerely knelt on my knees and asked God if this was true, if this was the way to go. It came to my mind that I shouldn't live something passively. I was doing everything that I'd been taught I should do, but I decided to try it all again. But somehow, it was all different. I said my prayers like I was talking to God; I read the scriptures like God was speaking to me through them. My attitude changed just a little bit every day. I started to think of others more than myself. Life was still hard back then, but as I lived the gospel of Jesus Christ, and as I live it now, I understand that the Savior is always there for me. I gained a testimony of Christ by living his teachings. In other words, I got a confirmation from God that these things are true. I still get these confirmations every day as I continue to live in this way. I love what Jesus Christ did for me, and I want others to know that because of what he did, we can live in joy and peace with our families forever.

How I live my faith

I've decided to give 18 months of my life to go to New Jersey and teach the teachings of Jesus Christ to those who speak Spanish. My companion and I talk to many people about what's going on in their lives. We listen to them, and then we help them understand the gospel of Jesus Christ and why it should be so important to them. I've also developed some skills in doing Family History work, which I love!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Vickie
We don't worship Joseph Smith. We worship Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. We see Joseph Smith as a prophet of God, and we respect all that he has done in being an instrument of the Lord. Through Joseph Smith, the Lord restored His church again on the earth. That's why he's important. Show more Show less
