Hi I'm Almira

I grew up just tagging along my grandma as she goes to church, not knowing why. As time passed, I now know why I am a Mormon. :-)

About Me

I live in the Philippines and I belong in the Single Adults range. I am already a college graduate and I had to go to a neighboring Province to get my Degree but it was worth it. I am a Mass Communication graduate but is currently unemployed because I am planning to serve the Lord in full-time for 18months. I am not so much of a 'sociable' and a party-goer but I have a number of friends to get along with and we enjoy visiting each others home to just have great long conversations about life, school, church, community or anything under the sun. Also, we love to eat together and watch movies over night or go to the beach to play and just relax and rejuvenate. If my friends are busy with their own schedules, I just like to stay at home and read church published books or magazines or watch movies or browse the internet. I am currently learning how to play the Piano and I am very interested in learning to play many other musical instruments like guitar, violin, flute and others. And I love cooking or baking and experimenting food recipes so that I may be able to share it to others. And in the future, if I can, I would take up Culinary arts and will someday want to have a Bakeshop and Restaurant in our place. And oh, I have also been dreaming of traveling the world and always wanted to visit Paris, France. Someday, somehow if the Lord wants me too, I know I'd be able to reach my dreams.

Why I am a Mormon

I am, like others who just tag along their parents or grandparents - because my parents were both out of the country to work then, I tagged along my grand mother - whenever she goes to church meetings. It continued up until I was in my youth years, I had that 'borrowed' testimony where I think I believe and know that God is true and that this church is true but the truth is that I haven't actually proved it to myself. When I became more mature, I began to have those questions to the soul, I started to ask myself if why I was a Mormon, why I believe and do what they believe and do, my parents didn't really instilled in our minds that they are Mormons so we too have to be Mormons, we have religious freedom. And with that, I started investigating the church myself, the Book of Mormon, the activities and prayed to Heavenly Father. And I testify that after those struggling, I know and proved that I wasn't and I am not in the wrong path and I thank my parents that they brought me up in light in truth through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As I thought of the things I did the past 20years, I know that I wasn't led to wrong places, I didn't grow having vices or even thought of having one because teachers and leaders kept on letting us know what is good. As I read the Book of Mormon, I was enlightened and had the desire to follow Jesus Christ's examples and just led me to doing good things which helped me know also the truthfulness of this Another Testament of Jesus Christ - the Book of Mormon. Why am I a Mormon? Because this is where I feel my Heavenly Father's love for me and this is where I am led to be a good daughter and servant of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And that my greatest hope, which is to be with my family for time and eternity is one of the center gospel of this Church and I believe that the Lord promised it and He will fulfill it, I just have to have faith and then wait. I am a Mormon, I know it, I live it and I so love it!

How I live my faith

In our branch, I am currently a Seminary teacher. Seminary is like a course in school where youth ages 14 - 17 are requested to enroll for free and we have everyday classes for an hour and we learn about a book of Scriptures that is assigned for the school year (i.e. Book of Mormon, Old Testament, New Testament or Doctrine & Covenants). I as the teacher would help them understand more bout the scripture and encourage them to live the principle we learn. Also, I became a leader for an organization for young women ages 12 - 17 and help them be righteous and role models as future leaders and moms. In addition, I teach for the youth ages 12 - 17 also but both men and women. I am a Pianist in the branch as well, where I play on Sundays or on other activities to provide accompaniment as we sing our hymns (church songs) that we do every time we meet together. And one of the things I love to do most for the church is to be a member missionary where we help our full-time missionaries (the Elders and Sister with a name tag) reach other members or to others who wants to learn about the church and Jesus Christ.
