Hi I'm Katie

I'm a full-time missionary, a reader, an artist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. I love meeting new people and seeing their lives changes as they apply the gospel. I get really nervous talking to them at first sometimes, but I've been able to see how Heavenly Father directs us in the work. Before I left for my mission, I attended BYU-Idaho for a couple of years, studying sculpture. I love creating things and seeing my imagination come out in the clay (or on the paper if I'm drawing). I love reading books in just about every genre.

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't always been strong in the church. It's something I've known about my whole life, as both of my parents were Mormon. But through a string of trials, among them divorce, conflict in the home, and struggles between family members, I fell in and out of activity. Mostly, out. It wasn't really until I graduated high school that a friend reached out to me and helped set me on the path back towards my Heavenly Father. I went through a lot of experiences at college over the next few years that helped me to be strengthened and develop faith. I thought when I came out on my mission that I was doing pretty good. But I realize now that the gospel is something I've only just begun to write in my heart. My head knew it, or it thought it did, but my heart was lacking. I'm still striving, every day, to carve it a little deeper into my heart, and create a place there for the gospel of Jesus Christ that it can never and will never be removed from. I'm grateful for a friend who reached out, and I'm grateful for family who show support. It's because of their examples to me that I was able to begin building, and now continue to build, a strong enough testimony to declare that I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to see others how Christ would see them. That's not always easy, actually it can be really hard sometimes. But I try to be respectful of everyone I meet and have love for them. I love serving others, especially as a missionary. Sometimes the best way we can show our testimony of Christ is to help someone who is in need. Even if it's just mopping their floor, or sweeping their front porch. As I make the decision to do these small acts of service, or to be more aware of those around me, I notice my faith increases.
