Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho. I'm currently serving in the England, London South Mission! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Sandy, Utah but moved to Idaho when I was 5 years old. I love to play video games with my best friends but nothing beats spending time outside experiencing the world that God has given us to live on! I've worked a lot with the Boy Scouts of America at scout camps teaching various merit badges and as a medic. I studied in high school to become an EMT Basic and passed my certification tests shortly after graduating. I plan on studying Chemistry or Biology in university and eventually moving on to medical school. Orthopedic surgery and Oncology are 2 of the specializations I've considered but I will make the decision after I have more experience. I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in the England London South Mission! I know this is exactly where the Lord needs me!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the church and I have been going to church all my life. I came to know the church was true by living(or not living) the principles and teachings of the gospel and experiencing the consequences. My whole life I have seen that true and lasting happiness comes only through keeping the commandments that the Lord has given us. I've gained a testimony of the restored gospel through many experiences over my lifetime and studying the Bible and Book of Mormon to find the truth on my own. In a way that is very hard to describe I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that the things I'm reading or hearing others say are true and that God wants me to know that they are true.

How I live my faith

At the moment I'm living my faith in a more focused way than I ever have before by serving as a missionary full-time for the next 2 years. It is a huge blessing to dedicate 2 years solely to teaching the Gospel that Jesus Christ taught while He was on the earth and helping as many people as possible to come to know Him as their Saviour. In the process my own faith and conviction have grown as I have been able to work closely with people that are building up their faith in Christ and making changes in their lives to bring them closer to Him. Sometimes being a missionary means spending most of the day knocking on doors or talking to people in the street inviting them to learn more about the gospel and come to know that it is true for themselves. I know that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer and that the Book of Mormon is indeed the word of God and because of that I want to share it with everyone I can because it is a message that everyone needs to know!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Jake
A testimony is a personal knowledge and conviction that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and it's teachings and doctrine come from God. Often a testimony is founded on the Book of Mormon. One can know that the Book of Mormon is true by studying it themselves and praying to ask God if it is true. A testimony is an answer from God in the form of feelings and thoughts given to us by the Holy Ghost. It is beyond worldly knowledge but is truly an answer from God in response to an honest and humble question in search of absolute truth. Show more Show less
