Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Alayna

I'm an Indiana Hoosier through and through. I love cats, crafting and quotes. I'm serving a mission in Las Vegas and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Indiana my whole life, growing up with a perfect backyard bordered with the picturesque view of a cornfield and early morning sunrises. I'm an avid crayon user and love coloring intricate designs or pictures of Hello Kitty ;) I'm a fan of all kinds of crafts and gift ideas and I love to sing, read and play piano. I just finished my Freshman year of College at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and came home with the intent to serve a mission. I have been called to serve in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission, Spanish speaking and I couldn't be more excited. Although, for a girl who took five years of French, learning Spanish will be interesting. With friends all over the world and USA serving missions, I am so excited to join them in helping others learn about what makes me so happy.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have grown up in the church, I have most certainly gained a personal testimony of it and would not still be attending if I didn't believe it was true. I love this gospel and this church because it allows and encourages us to grow and learn for OURSELVES every single day. It teaches us to gain a personal knowledge so that we are unshakable in times of trial, stress or sadness. The things that I have learned for myself as well as been taught have provided so much comfort, peace and joy in my life and I would never want to leave that behind. I am often asked why I am so happy or how I have such a positive attitude and ultimately it comes from trying to be like my savior Jesus Christ every day as well as trying to draw closer to him. This gospel allows me to love even when its hard and smile even when it rains. I know that my Savior lives and I know that he loves each of us personally and for that reason, I am so passionate about this gospel and what it teaches because it is the fullness of Christ's church back on the Earth. And when you know that, you want to share this joyous and most important news with everyone so that they can take advantage of all the wonderful things that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have so lovingly provided for us so that we are not confused or alone and so that everyone can feel just as happy as I do.

How I live my faith

I am called as Ward Missionary currently which means that I work with the Sister Missionaries around my town to teach others about our church. It is the perfect calling right now because it is helping me prepare to be a full time missionary in the very near future. With this calling comes the responsibility to help my dad teach a Sunday school class for new members of the church in our area. I really enjoy this class because we have wonderful discussions that open everyone's minds to learning more fully and it is truly wonderful. I have previously served as a Sunday School teacher for young children and even kids my age out at college and love teaching more than anything else because I learn so much while doing so. I have read my scriptures daily for over five years and don't ever plan on missing a day again because of the impact I know that it has on my life. I try to share my faith through my example and happiness and kindness to those around me and in all situations I am in. Simply put, I love this gospel and I let it show.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Alayna
To me, The Book of Mormon represents God's love for ALL of his children. It doesn't make sense that one nation would know of Christ and walk with Christ during his ministry in Jerusalem and know how to practice his religion, while the rest of the world lived in the dark. The Book of Mormon goes hand in hand with the bible as another witness of Jesus Christ. The crowning moment in the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ visits the Americas and the people there as a resurrected being and teaches them of his gospel and his truth as he wouldn't want any of his brothers and sisters to be in the dark. If that was the only portion of scripture that made up the Book of Mormon, that to me still sums up everything that God is. He is not a respecter of persons and if he was he would be a changeable God. But He is not. He is the same "yesterday, today and forever" and that being said he would never want his children to walk blindly without a plan or map that teaches us of our purpose here and how to return to Him. The Book of Mormon proves that God loves all of his children. It is a record of the people that inhabited the Americas and has priceless information that only confirms, supports, verifies and expounds on what is written in the Bible so that we can understand more fully. The Book of Mormon has a promise at the end that those who read it can pray about it to know if it is true and they will receive a witness. I have received that witness and cherish this book in my life. Show more Show less
