Hi I'm Scott D.

I was born in Utah. Raised in California. Raising a family in the beautiful Midwest state of Wisconsin. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, a father, and a son. I love my family and love to watch my kids develop and share their talents. I enjoy playing golf and basketball. I enjoy attending sporting events, especially the ones my kids play in. I spent years on the road as a sales representative in the golf industry, but now work in an office doing software sales. Summertime road trips with my family are one of my favorite activities. My family and I love visiting new places and meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by great parents who taught me the gospel. When I was 17 years old I had a young men's adviser challenge me to read The Book of Mormon from cover to cover, and pray about it. He challenged me to pray and specifically ask my Father in Heaven if The Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I read and read. I finished reading The Book of Mormon sitting at an old, small, wood desk in my room in Southern California. I can still see in my minds eye the light brown leather bound scriptures open on the desk. I was so tall my legs would no longer fit under the desk, so I hunched over leaning my elbows on my knees. Once I finished reading, I knelt at the side of my bed, and simply prayed. I thanked my Father in Heaven for all He had given me, and then I asked. I asked was The Book of Mormon true and if Joseph Smith was a Prophet. It was at this moment in my life I realized one of the gifts of the Spirit I have been given is the gift of faith. I received confirmation that day that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and The Book of Mormon is true. Then my simple, but strong faith, led me to understand...If Joseph Smith is a prophet, and The Book of Mormon is true, the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church...the same church Christ established on the earth. A church led by revelation and prophets and apostles with Jesus Christ at it's head. A church of love, compassion, and service. I have found love, peace, and comfort in living the gospel of Jesus Christ The fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is found within the walls of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the teachings of Christ daily. There are times I fall short, but I keep trying. A few years ago I was teaching an adult Sunday School class and posed the question..."Why is living the gospel so difficult in today's world?" After numerous answers relating to the difficulty of living the gospel, and beginning to feel satisfied with the direction of the discussion, the hand of a sweet older women went up. She said "Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is a choice. Once you make the choice, it should not be difficult". I immediately realized the remaining 35 minutes of class would not be about the difficulty of living the gospel, but instead, how choosing to live the gospel will lead to a happy, more fulfilling life. I made the decision a long time ago to live the gospel. It hasn't always been easy, but it has always led to happiness. Over the past 25-30 years I have had the opportunity to serve in the church in many different ways, but my favorite is serving as a teacher. I learn so much when I teach.
