Hi I'm William de Leon

Born in the US, raised in Guatemala, guitar player, Eagle Scout, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Orange, California. I am from a Guatemalan descent. I was raised in Guatemala until the age of 14. I moved back to the US and continued my school. I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. I love to play sports such as baseball and volleyball. I enjoy playing guitar, and it's my favorite pastime.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually born and raised in the church. My family has always lived according to the principle in the church. But it wasn't until I turned 15 that I actually wanted to know for my own if this church was true. I started to wonder why people claimed that this church is true while every other religion would say the same thing. Then while these things were going through my head, I had a very good friend who was also my Sunday school teacher. He shared his experience about his conversion. It was very similar to what I was going through. Then he said something that really caught my attention. He said that he had to learn on his own in order to gain his testimony. That same day I started to read the scriptures more, I started to pay more attention to what my church leaders had to say. Eventually those thoughts left my head. I wasn't wondering why the church claimed to be true, because I knew the church is true! I knew that this is the church where I had to be. The peace that it brought to me gave me so much strength in knowing where I had to be and who I was. Ever since then I have never doubted that this church is true. I know the scriptures were there to help me. I know we have a living prophet who's name is Thomas S. Monson, and he is in constant communication with our Heavenly Father in order to guide this world. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet, that 14 year old young man did see our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ; and I'm extremely grateful for that. I know Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for every single person in this world, and it has been the greatest act of love that this world has ever seen. I know this church is true, there is no doubt in that. Like one of my favorite church leaders said, I'm Mormon. I know it, I live it, I love it!

How I live my faith

I have always loved being involved in helping people, and the church has been very helpful with that. It has taught me that I must always serve others no matter what.
