Hi I'm Mikayla Monnie

I'm an Oregonian! I'm a huge football fan! I love to sing! I am currently serving in the Canada Toronto Mission and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in the Portland, Oregon area. I was born into the church. I'm an Oregon Ducks fan! I enjoy spending my time at sporting events and cheering on my Ducks! Football and baseball are my favorite sports to watch! I'm studying to be an elementary school teacher. I have always loved kids and love ASL! I have always had a passion for music. Singing is a major hobby of mine. I love expressing myself through song. I am currently serving in the Canada Toronto mission! I love sharing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Canada! It's a wonderful opportunity and I'm grateful for this time I have to serve!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel. I've always known the gospel was true and through life experiences my testimony has been strengthened. I couldn't rely on my family's testimonies and think I would be safe. I needed to know for myself that it was true. When I finished the Book of Mormon my senior year I prayed to know if it was true. I felt comfort and was reassured that what I had read was another testament of Jesus Christ. But it didn't stop there. My time at college was my test to know if being Mormon was what I wanted to do. I noticed the joy I received from the gospel while also seeing the sadness that living without it brought to others. When I was in places where the spirit wasn't with me, I felt dark and lonely. But when I attended church and ward activities I felt the warmth and comfort of that familiar spirit. I never wanted it to leave me. I had never planned on a mission while growing up. A few months after the age to serve was changed in October 2012 I kept thinking about it. The thought of serving never left my mind. I noticed myself talking about it every day. After earnest prayer and study I knew serving a mission was right for me. I know this gospel is true! I wouldn't be in cold Canada if I didn't know that for sure! My testimony has been strengthened! Others deserve to know about this great gospel that I'm apart of. I want to share what I know to be true. This gospel is amazing! It blesses lives. We have a loving Savior who paid the price for all the sins we make in this life. He knows us and loves us. He knows what it's like to feel alone and worthless because He felt that way. If we reach out to Him, He will be there to lift us up. I'm so grateful to be a member of this church!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good example to those around me. Growing up I loved sharing the gospel with my friends. I was prepared to be a missionary before I even knew it! I made the decision to serve a mission because I have been so blessed with this gospel in my life and I wanted others to receive those same blessings. I am a representative of Jesus Christ. My actions should be those of the Savior's. As a missionary I strive to be Christlike and it's something I continue to work on. I live my faith by following the prophet's words and hastening the work in this latter day!
