Hi I'm Naomi Harasti

I'm from Alaska. I'm a photographer, pianist, and a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi there! I was born and raised here in Alaska. I come from a big family (I have 10 siblings!) and I was married just over a year and a half ago. My husband and I are now expecting our first baby. I've always loved writing--whether it's stories, poems, journaling, or blogging. Someday I hope to publish a novel. I also love photography. I originally picked it up because I liked capturing the beauty of the world around me, but now I do family photos and I love it! I also play the piano. Music is a big part of my life!

Why I am a Mormon

As I said before, I was raised going to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I haven't really known anything different, but I don't feel like I have to. I've learned about what other faiths believe, and to me, what "Mormonism" teaches makes the most sense. I think the best way to see if something works is to test it out yourself. As I live what the church teaches, I feel closer to God. I feel uplifted, at peace, and I feel that it makes me a better person. I am a Mormon because I truly believe that this church is true! As I live the gospel of Jesus Christ and see how it affects my life, my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel is strengthened.

How I live my faith

I grew up attending church, so I've had the opportunity to have many different callings (a calling is basically a "job" or "duty" we have in our congregation.) My current calling is Primary pianist. Primary is the children's class for kids age 3-11. They usually have about 30 minutes of singing time every Sunday, and that's when I play the piano for them. Most of the songs are about stories from The Book of Mormon or Bible, or just about the principles we believe in. I find that hearing these songs every week reminds me of when I was in Primary, and they are a great reminder of the simple truths I've learned. Recently I've made a goal to read the scriptures and pray more often, and I find that in doing so, I feel uplifted and edified. I feel closer to God. I live my faith by trying to live a life that God would be proud of.
