Hi I'm Desiree

I'm a girl who loves the sunshine, playing volleyball, and I'm a Mormon! (:

About Me

I am a California girl, uprooted and planted in Idaho. I'm the youngest of nine children in a happily combined family. There are 15 grandkids in my family all under the age of 8, and all my married siblings were sealed to their spouse in the temple, and what great examples they are to me. I am finishing my senior year in college and have played collegiate volleyball all four years. I am studying Psychology and when I graduate I want to travel and see this beautiful world while I have the chance. Summer 2014 I had the opportunity to work as an EFY counselor, and what a blessing it was to learn and teach the wonderful youth. I spend most of my free time in the gym playing volleyball, but if I'm not in the gym I'm outside playing in the sunshine.

Why I am a Mormon

Everyone has their own conversion story, and it took time for me, but once I moved out of my parents home I slowly grew an understanding of the church and gained my own personal testimony. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, the blessings it has brought to my life, and the happiness I have felt from it. I have come to learn The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only church on the earth today that has the fullness of the Lord's teachings. I know that my Savior atoned for my sins so that I might be able to grow and live happily knowing when I make mistakes I can be forgiven. I know my Heavenly Father wants me to be happy, and this is knowledge and comfort that being a Mormon has given me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith with a constant prayer in my heart, knowing we all make mistakes, but striving to be better each day. The majority of people I come in contact with throughout the day are not LDS and it is important for me to set a positive example. I try to keep my language, thoughts, and actions positive. I live my faith by being kind to those around me and trying to lend a helping hand without being asked. I realize that perfection is not attainable in this life, so when I trip and struggle I get up and wipe my knees and start climbing life's hill once again. I try to live in such a way that Christ's light can shine through me.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Desiree
I have learned the the best way to increase our faith in the Savior is to be diligent in studying the scriptures (Book of Mormon and Bible), to pray to our Heavenly Father sincerely, and to serve. During the Christ's life He spent most of His time upon the earth serving others, so what better way to learn more of Christ than to do as He did and help others. As we strive to learn more about Christ and to better ourselves, our faith in Him will grow and strengthen. Show more Show less
