Hi I'm Micayla

I'm a triathlete. I am studying accounting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently in college studying accounting but it seems like I'm really studying how to balance school, friends, sports, and sleep. In high school I was a cross country runner. When I got to college I wasn't able to get onto their team but I still wanted to run, so I found the Triathlon club. Soon enough, I was sucked in and ended up buying some goggles and a bike and now I regularly compete with my team. When I'm not running, biking, or swimming, I am usually out with friends goofing around somewhere in the mountains or playing the piano. I just LOVE life and I try to take advantage of every opportunity it gives me!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member my whole life, but I didn't truly convert until my teen years. I've always agreed with the teachings of the church and was a dedicated member, but between the ages of 14 and 16 is when I really obtained my own testimony and I knew that this church is true. I had made some bad choices in those years and I was feeling like I'd betrayed God. I was embarrassed, regretful, and I didn't think I would be able to change anything. What I realized is that life is all about progress. We are all going to make mistakes, and if we let those mistakes define who we are and hold us back from progressing into a better person, then it'll be hard to live a happy life. I luckily turned to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and did all I needed to do to move on and be forgiven of my past choices. I had never felt so loved and accepted before in my life. I could see so many ways that Heavenly Father has blessed my life because he loves me. The last few years have been the best filled with wonderful family, friends, and joy. As I continually try to follow Christ's example, I am always learning, progressing, and becoming a better person. I am no where close to being done (and I won't ever be), but because of the gospel and its teachings, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I know that I can live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again.

How I live my faith

By being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I've gotten to meet and serve so many people in my community (both members and non-members) that I wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to meet. There are always service projects, church meetings, and fun activities that bring us all together and unify us. Currently, I'm getting ready to serve an 18 month mission where I get to serve others and share with them my faith in Jesus Christ all day every day! I'm so excited to put my life on "hold" for a little bit while I try to draw closer to my Heavenly Father and help others as well.
