Hi I'm Shaelyn Rich

I was born in America, grew up in New Zealand. I love to play tennis. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have just recently finished my first year of college. I am studying Web Design & Development and I absolutely love it! I am the oldest of 5 children. I have two brothers and two sisters. I love to travel and experience new things and different cultures. For the next 18 months I will be serving an LDS mission. I am so excited! In my spare time I like to play tennis, read a book, and play the piano. I especially like to play card games. Rook is my favorite.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. All of my immediate family is Mormon and I have been a member my whole life. It might seem like I'm a Mormon because my parents are, but I made the decision myself. I came to realize that living the gospel made me a better and happier person. I came to realize that I can receive help and guidance and answers to my prayers. I am a Mormon because the gospel gives me an eternal perspective that shows me what is truly important in life. Without it I feel like there is something missing. I feel incomplete. I am a Mormon because living the gospel gives me a genuine purpose and helps me to look forward and see all the positive things and blessings in my life. I am a Mormon because I believe and have faith in Jesus Christ. I know that He died for me, and all of us, so that we would have the opportunity to repent and return to live with Him again. I am a Mormon because I can feel in my heart the spirit testify to me that it is true. That feeling of complete comfort and peace must be from God. It gives me so much comfort to know that my Heavenly Father is looking out for me and wants the best for me. He has given me so much and I want to be the best I can be by continuing to follow His gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example of what I believe and know to be true. Keeping the commandments, principles, and teachings of the gospel found in the scriptures and revelation from our living prophet is always where I turn to. There are standards and guidelines found in the 'For the Strength of Youth' booklet that helps me to easily understand what, how, and why these standards are put in place. I dress modestly everyday to show respect for my body. I listen to and watch only media that is appropriate and uplifting. I try to live everyday as if Jesus was beside me. I try my best to follow his perfect example and walk in his footsteps. It can be hard sometimes when there are so many worldly distractions around me. I admit, I am not perfect. I live my faith by being an example of this gospel and I know that when I am doing the things He would want me to do I can feel joy and at peace.
