Hi I'm Shayanne

I was born/raised in Kentucky. I love music and exercise. I will be serving a full-time mission in Tucson, Arizona! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Junior at BYU-Idaho studying Exercise Physiology, and plan on becoming a personal trainer. I'm currently taking a break from school to serve a full-time mission in Tucson, Arizona!!! I'm very excited for this wonderful opportunity to better serve God and His children. I love working out and eating healthy; it helps me feel full of energy, strong, and happy. I have recently been trying to follow a Paleo diet, and it has done miracles for me! I also love music. I play the piano and have been singing since I was a little girl. It's a way for me to express myself when words cannot, and is a huge part of who I am. I love dancing! I enjoy Latin Dancing-Salsa, Meringue, and Bachata. If I hear Latin music, I can't help but start to dance! I grew up in the boondocks in good ole' Kentucky. I'm the oldest of 5 siblings (3 brothers and a sister), and currently have a brother serving a mission in Brazil! I love sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others, and love helping others in the best way I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I chose to be. I grew up in the LDS faith, and lived off of my parents testimony for years. But over the years, I have had experiences that have shaped my own testimony, and have reassured me that this church is true! I have had to act in faith on principles of the gospel that I have been taught, and then decided for myself to live them because of the blessings and happiness that came from following them. For me, obeying the commandments, reading the scriptures, going to church, etc., are necessities of life that bring true happiness. I recently had an experience where I had stopped doing these "necessities", and I immediately felt darkness creep into my life and I felt awful! I felt empty, lost, confused, and depressed without the Spirit with me. Once I realized why I was feeling this way, I turned back to God and recommitted to living the gospel completely. I am a Mormon, because I feel lost otherwise and can feel true happiness. I am a Mormon, because of the blessings that come from obeying the commandments and principles taught. I am a Mormon, because I want to be able to receive the blessing of an eternal marriage and be sealed for eternity to my future spouse and family. I am a Mormon because I have prayed about it, and know that the Church of Jesus Christ is true! I can promise you that if you will take the time to read and study the Book of Mormon and pray about it, that you can know for yourself that it is true also! I know that you can find true happiness and that your concerns can be solved by the principles of this gospel. I love being Mormon!!

How I live my faith

One of my life missions is to help and serve others to the best of my ability. I try to see others through our Heavenly Father's eyes, and treat them like the sons and daughters of God they are! I reach out to those who are lonely, sad, or going through a difficult time and try to ease their burden through kindness and friendship. One of the best ways I can live my faith is though my example. I will be serving a mission in 5 weeks, and this gives me a wonderful opportunity to be a great example to others! I live my faith by sharing it with others on a daily basis, and bringing others to the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
