Hi I'm Jessica Olive

I'm a theater student, a world traveler, a missionary, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I've been a member of this church since I was eight years old and can't imagine my life without it. Besides the church I really enjoy playing with my nieces and nephews, participating in theater productions, playing soccer, and doing family history work! I recently graduated with my associates degree and then spent a month in Taiwan teaching English. I love to travel and study other cultures and languages! I'm extraordinarily thankful to currently be serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission as a full time missionary, teaching others about Gods plan for them and how being closer to Jesus Christ can improve the quality of their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I've studied many religions from all over the world and none has made more sense logically or spiritually than the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Growing up I relied on the testimony of those around me, but as I grew older I began to have questions of my own. These questions led me to pray more seriously and the answer I received from my Heavenly Father was to study the scriptures to know my savior. I started a continual routine of prayer and scripture study. Specifically studying the Book of Mormon helped me understand God's plan of salvation for us all, the importance of Christ in that plan as our redeemer and brother, and how his plan affects the choices I make in my life. God loves his children, he has sent us to this earth to learn and grow so we can become more like him. This means we will experience trials and have doubts and concerns but I know that if we continue to keep our focus on God he with the help of Christ and the Holy Ghost will help us in every circumstance with every need we have. When Christ was on earth he brought truth and light by creating his own church, I know that the church of Christ of olden days has been restored in these days by the Prophet Joseph Smith, and is continuing through the work of current day prophets who help us understand the Lords plan. I know these things to be true and I am so thankful for them!

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving a mission for the church and have the opportunity to be a representative of Jesus Christ. I have the wonderful opportunity to serve other people and help them understand Gods plan for them. I've always loved serving other people and that's one reason mission life is so great. At home I love doing family history work, I know how important families are in this life and in God's plan for all of us. Also, one of my favorite things to do is go to the temple and going with names of ancestors always helps me feel closer to those I'm serving.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jessica Olive
Christ's atonement extends past his suffering on the cross and in the garden of Gethsemane. He not only suffered for our sins and our physical pain but for our spiritual and emotional pain as well. He knows all our struggles and joys and because he knows us so well he loves us even more! His perfection in life makes his sacrifice for us an eternal sacrifice. Without him we could not return to our Heavenly Fathers home after death, as we are perfected by his atonement! Show more Show less
