Hi I'm Dallin

I'm a Mormon. I have lived in British Columbia my whole life.

About Me

I'm 20 years old. I am preparing to serve in the Melbourne Australia Mission. I like to play the guitar and bass guitar. My favorite sport is Hockey.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but that doesn't mean I believed it right away. I was taught all the bible and book of mormon stories and have gained lots of knowledge concerning them, but I didn't know if the goespel was true. I had prayed for an answer but never recognised one. I kept going to church because all of my friends were there and my family made me go. When I turned 18 my life got more complicated. All my friends had gone to serve missions or go to school, and I wasn't sure what to do. I didn't want to serve and give away 2 critical years of my life leaving behind a girlfriend for something I didn't know was true. I decided I should try harder for an answer to my prayers and told my Dad, who is the Bishop of our ward, that I was thinking about serving a mission. He then told me how my name was brought up to serve in the Young Mens program as a leader. I accepted. A month or so later our Young Mens group went on a bike trip. Our group got split up and it was dark out. We did not have the GPS and did not know where our camp site would be. We kept going forward hoping it would be along the trail. All of the sudden I had a feeling we should turn around. I knew this feeling was the Holy Ghost that everyone else that believed had felt. It wasn't quite how I imagined it to be, but I knew without a doubt this was it. On our way back we saw a trail that lead to a road. We eventually flagged down a car and made it to our site. I learned a very important lesson about the Holy Ghost that day. If you are not willing to change before you get the answer you are just covering your ears, the Holy Ghost speaks in a still small voice so you need to be listening carefully. It was not until after I humbled myself and was willing to serve that I was able to feel the truth. I know that God lives and that through his Son, Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven and return to his presence. I know that God is our Father and wants us to be happy. I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

I try to be the best example I can be, but obviously I'm not perfect. I go to church every week so I can become more like our Saviour. I am an Assistant Scout Leader in my ward and also teach youth ages 12-13 every Sunday. I have chosen to serve a mission, I will be serving in Melbourne Australia. I have chosen to serve because I believe we are all part of the same eternal family and we are here to grow and get stronger, and by serving I am helping my Brothers and Sisters.

What is being a Mormon like?

I often hear people calling it restricting, but we believe in people having the freedom to chose there own course. People say we have to many rules, but in reality they are just warnings to keep us from physical and spiritual harm. Being Mormon helps you to be happy. We believe one of our greatest reasons for being here on earth is to experience joy. Almost everyone in our church is striving to become that person they want to be, the kind of person that Christ was. Someone full of love, compassion, and service. However we all make mistakes along the way. In the church we call eachother Brothers and Sister because we believe we are all family. I know by experience that the gospel of Jesus Christ brings joy, and that the church will be one of the greatest sources of support you will ever have in your life. Show more Show less
