Hi I'm Holly

I love music, writing, and playing sports. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my second year in college, and I'm the oldest of six children. I love playing soccer, flag football, and lacrosse. I'm an English major with an emphasis in creative writing, although I'm starting to lean toward the more professional aspects of writing. I work as a cashier at the local grocery store, and I actually really enjoy it. I absolutely love music!! I play the violin and I'm trying to learn to play the piano and guitar. I sing alto and some tenor, but mostly just any part that creates cool harmonies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family where The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the dominant religion. I went to church every Sunday. I was baptized when I turned eight years old. However, I don't think I was truly converted until I was sixteen. It doesn't matter if someone was born into the church or joined later in life, one day everyone eventually has to experience conversion on their own. For me, I was sixteen and questioning a lot of things in my life. I had been piggy-backing the testimonies of my parents and I kind of believed in what was being taught, but I didn't have a testimony of my own. A few things happened when I was fifteen, and the year I turned sixteen quickly became an emotionally taxing ride. It was then, in what was the darkest time in my life, that I discovered how much God cares for me personally. No matter how much I tried to distance myself from those around me, He always put someone else in my life to show me that He cared. Teachers, parents, friends, and strangers showed love when I didn't think I deserved it. For me, I thought, if these strangers can love me without even knowing me, how much more does God love me? He knows me better than I know myself! In that moment, I felt His love fill my whole body, like every cell in my body was expanding. I feel His love every time I read my scriptures, pray, attend my church meetings, or serve others. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers me the most complete gospel teachings that I have been exposed to. It presents a heavenly plan which allows everyone to live with God and their families forever. It is a gospel filled with and dependent on the love of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Everything good, joyful, beautiful, or worthwhile that has happened in my life has been because of that love. I would not be who I am today without the lessons I have learned and the peace I have found through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person I can be at all times, in all things, and in all places. I believe in being honest in every aspect of my life--even in the small things--no matter what happens. I regularly attend my church meetings on Sundays. I have responsibilities with the children in our congregation. While the adults are in classes, I help teach the classes of the children ages four to eleven. I make it a point to serve and love those I come in contact with in whatever way I can. I am also preparing to serve a mission for eighteen months to teach everyone I meet about my faith.
