Hi I'm Amanda Kirkby

I love to work and to play. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest child of seven. From a young age, I was involved in a life of bustling business and ever since I've had a full schedule. I recently graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. I was extremely involved in the service program at the school and because of my involvement I have fostered a love of service. I recently received a call to serve a mission in Minneapolis Minnesota and I will be leaving in two months. I am excited for the opportunity to give my whole life to service for 18 months. I love food, in particular I love chocolate. I love sports and watching games with my family and friends. I have played the piano for 14 years. I played basketball and softball in high school. I also threw discus for the track team taking 6th in state my senior year. I love to create. Sewing, cooking, doodling, or anything that allows creativity is something I enjoy. I love nothing more than spending time with my family and I'm grateful for the knowledge that I get to live with them forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I've mentioned that I was born into this church, but that is not why I've stayed. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is the True Church of God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the most true organization I have ever been part of. The things taught in this gospel encourage people to learn and grow and to be the best that they can be. This church is a church of leadership where anyone and everyone can have the opportunity to serve and to grow. I know that we have living prophets who lead and guide us. I know that they receive revelation from God. I know that God is the true head of this church. I receive a feeling of peace when I pray to God and I know that he hears and answers my prayers. I know that families can be together forever, what a precious truth that is. I know that Jesus Christ died for me, and if I were the only person to ever live, he still would have done it, for me. I'm grateful for the knowledge that I can repent, because of Him. I can become more like him when I do repent and try to be better. I'm grateful for the wonderful values and morals that are taught in this church that keep me safe from spiritual and physical harm. I love my family and I love my God and I will be forever grateful for the chance that I have to be part of this church.

How I live my faith

I was born into this church and I have been grossly involved my whole life. I have happily served in many different callings during my life. Currently I have the opportunity once a month to spend forty five minutes teaching women in my area from the words of the prophets. I am also preparing to serve a full time mission in a few months. I have been assigned to visit and serve three sisters in my area at least once a month. I am grateful for this opportunity as it helps me make new friends and gives me the chance to look outside of myself.
