Hi I'm Greta

I'm a Mormon who loves ice cream and music.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Northern California called Gridley surrounded by my family's walnut and prune orchards. Of the seven kids in my family, I'm the youngest and I have lots of nieces and nephews that are basically the cutest human beings in the world. I graduated high school in 2014 and headed off for some higher education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. At college, I spent lots of time studying, eating ice cream, attending football games, napping, and singing with the BYU Women's Chorus. I'm not quite sure yet what I'll be studying, but I do have a list of about 7 potential majors that I'll figure out someday. When it comes to hobbies, I'm not super athletic and creativity skills are definitely lacking. BUT I do love playing tennis and swimming and have been very involved in music all my life. From singing in choirs, to playing the flute in band, to accompanying congregations on the organ, the more I think about it I guess I could claim music as a "hobby." I do also love photography and if I could have any job in the world that was guaranteed to pay well and have lifelong job security I would easily be a photo journalist. Unfortunately, my competitive nature is suited more for a rousing game of Uno than to compete in the journalism world.

Why I am a Mormon

At the end of the day, I just want to be happy. And If God has the most greatness and is the smartest and the most powerful being in the universe, then he's got to have the highest capacity for happiness. So whatever way he says is the way to be happy has got to be the best way to have the most happiness. In this life and the next. That's why I'm a Mormon. Because God has said this church and its doctrines and its principles are the way to have the happiness He has. And I know for myself that it is. The feelings I've felt and the experiences I've had as I live this gospel are undeniable. The witness provided by the Holy Ghost, is all we need. A leader in the church named Dallin H. Oaks said, "Some things can only be learned by faith." I've learned for myself by faith that God loves me and has provided this church, out of love, for me to be happy.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm serving as a volunteer missionary for the church in the Canada Edmonton Mission. I'll be up here in the Great White North for a year and a half teaching as many people as I can about Jesus Christ. As a missionary, I devote all my time to serving. School is on hold, work is on hold, life is on hold, so that I can be here in Canada sharing with people the joy that living this gospel brings. In the past, I've been very involved with the church by participating in activities and programs of the church. I've taught classes, participated in musical programs, and visited and helped other members of my congregations.
