Hi I'm Amy

I am from Canada. I enjoy reading and cooking. I attended BYUI. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission, in the Colorado, Fort Collins Mission. I have two brothers and five sisters. I am the fifth child to serve a mission in my family. Three of my siblings are married and I have 3 nieces, a nephew! I love smiling and making other people happy. I love reading, writing, and cooking. My favorite book series is Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I love playing card games and bored games with my family members. I have already attended three semesters at BYUI and my major is Social Work. When I graduate from BYUI, I want work with the Elderly or with Adoption Services.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings my joy and happiness. It gives me comfort to know that my Father in Heaven loves me and knows my name. I know the joy that it brings me and I want everyone to have the true joy and happiness that I have. Even though my parents raised me in the the church, they always encouraged me to gain a testimony and a knowledge of my own. I have seen God´s hand in every single aspect of my life and it is so important to me to have this knowledge. I know that the gospel brings my happiness and that the Savior died for me. I know that He lives. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I don´t know where or who I´d be if I didn´t have the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by the small things I do. I think that it is so important to do the small things like praying, serving, writing in my journal, and studying the scriptures every single day. When you are constantly doing the small things it is so much easier to do the big things like going to church every Sunday and keeping Sunday a holy day. I also think that it is so important to be myself and use my talents to help other people.

What is the First Vision?

Amy
In 1820 there was a boy named Joseph Smith and he had a question about which church was true and which church he should join. One day while reading in the bible he came across a scripture that said, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Joseph decided to do as the scripture directed and ask of God. In the spring of that same year, Joseph went to a grove of trees and started to pray. Joseph wrote: "When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other --"This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Joseph saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He was told not to join any of the churches. This is what we call the First Vision and it made a path for the Restoration of Jesus Christ's Church to return to the Earth. Show more Show less
