Hi I'm Mike Ellington

I grew up in the western United States. We joined the Mormon Church when I was Nine

About Me

I grew up around sawmills. I spent most of my life in manufacturing of one thing or another. I am interested in hand tools, emergency preparedness, people, astronomy, ham radio and almost anything else. We spent a year in China and really enjoyed our time there. We have 5 children and 14 grandchildren. We do like to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

My family had always gone to church. We came in contact with the LDS Church when I was nine. We joined about nine months later. Personally I had been sure this was the church I wanted for several months because the beliefs we were being taught "felt right". As I have studied and prayed and tried to live the principles I have learned I have gained a stronger testimony of it's truthfulness. The Book of Mormon is true, the Church is true, we have a living prophet to direct us in these trying times, this I know. I know that God lives and that His son, Jesus Christ, died for us so that we could return to Him if we would listen and repent. I know that God loves us and that we are his children. I know that true happiness comes only from doing His will.

How I live my faith

I currently serve on the Library board in my community. I have served as a Scoutmaster, worked with Girl Scouts, and withe a girls camp. I have been an EMT and volunteer fireman. I have been a voluntary cannery operator and supervisor for a cannery that was used for humanitarian aid. I have taught English to Asian students on Skype and did Teach in China for a year.
