Hi I'm Saxton Hansen

Im a Utah boy. I love the Mountains. Im a die hard soccer player, a music lover, a missionary in Orlando Florida, and Im a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Saxton, many of my friends call me Saxtaphone. I am the oldest of five, I have the best parents. I love to spend time in the beautiful outdoors! I love going camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, backpacking, white water rafting, and many other outdoorsy activities. I can spend hours just relaxing by the lake. I would take the mountains over a beech any day. I love playing sports, my favorite sport is soccer, but I just enjoy being active. If given the choice, I would much rather play a sport than watch it on tv. I like having fun, and laughing. I love to listen to music, especially in the car, and I'm almost always singing or humming some tune or song. I have an associates degree and want to do something in the broad field of design. I know that God loves me and that's why I am now serving a mission in the Florida Orlando mission, and I love it! It is one of my greatest adventures so far.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up singing I hope they call me on mission, and then I actually grew "a foot or two" and all of a sudden I wasn't so sure. I had grown up my whole life in the LDS church and never doubted it. But it wasn't until I got older that I really gained my own testimony, I call it my personal conversion story: So my conversion story really starts when I was in high school. It was summer and I was invited to a young men's camp. At that camp one of the leaders invited us to pray and ask God if He loved us. I had felt prompting and small answers before when I was younger but not for a while. And this time I really wanted to know. And so I found a quiet place where I could kneel down and offer up the desires of my heart. And when I did so the feeling that overcame me was so powerful I knew without a doubt that God truly loved ME. And following that I knew there were some changes to be made in my life so as to better follow Jesus Christ, but I also knew that my Father in Heaven would help me out and be with my always. After that I did not doubt it. As I made changes church became more meaningful, youth activities more important and fun, and I enjoyed spending more and more time with my family. Although this might not be the same answer for everyone, it was the answer for me. And that was all I needed. Because I know God loves me, I know that I belong to the true Church of Jesus Christ. I know that I am a Mormon and am proud to be so. And I'm also very proud to carry the name of Jesus Christ on my chest everyday, everywhere, as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I believe the best way to share anything is by example. I strive to be like Christ everyday. As I learn things, I share them. And as I share things, I have a desire to act and help those around me. One of the biggest actions I have made lately is deciding to serve a mission. I have been called to serve in the Florida Orlando mission. I will be serving two years down here and putting forth my best effort to the Lord. I know for myself that Heavenly Father knows and loves me, and I want others to know that as well. I strive each day to better myself and to be as Christ-like as I can.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Saxton Hansen
We invite all to come unto Christ and be perfected in him. If it is their desire, we invite them to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized as He was: by immersion and by someone with the priesthood authority of God. Jesus went to John the Baptist, as he was rightly called, because he had that authority to baptize. We go to someone who has that same authority. We believe that it is a commandment to be baptized, and should not be taken lightly, but it is to be done under priesthood authority. I know those that except to follow the example of Christ will see changes in their lives as they make and keep covenants with God by being baptized and confirmed a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Saxton Hansen
Why not ask Him? If you truly want to know our Heavenly Father is there and that He loves you then why not just ask Him if He's there and if He loves you. That's what I did, and I got an answer. If you truly have a desire and your humble in heart and meek in Spirit then why would God not answer? Show more Show less
