Hi I'm Shanan W

I grew up in Northwest Arkansas. I have 7 siblings. I love to play the piano and sing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a fairly large city for the area in which I lived. Then when I was about 17 my family moved out to a little farming town outside of where I grew up. I was homeschooled for about 4 years and went to the community college part time throughout high school. So when I graduated high school I was able to graduate with my Associates Degree the following year. I am going to get certified as a dental assistant and pursue a career in that. I enjoy making music and listening to it as well. I love to bake and go on adventures. I played lacrosse for 3 years and now I am a member of a kickboxing gym. I try to always be doing something, whether it be exploring somewhere new, or going and hanging with friends. I also try to spend time with my family when I am not working.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know that my Father in Heaven loves me and He wants me to be happy! Everything in this gospel will lead us back to our Heavenly Father if we follow it. When I was younger I was just following what my parents told me to do. As I got older I began to gain my own testimony of the gospel. I had experiences that testified of Heavenly Father and Christ's love for me. I have seen how my life is affected when I choose not to keep the commandments and I know the joy and the peace that comes when you follow the Holy Ghost and choose the right. The church has always been that one constant in my life. While the world is slowly declining the church is growing and its standards are unwavering. I know that the leaders of this church are inspired and lead this church with direction from our Father in Heaven. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of that same God. He restored the true church in these latter days and the Savior is at the head of it. I know that my family can be together forever if we all live worthy to return to our Father in Heaven again. I now choose to live this gospel for me. It is who I am and I wouldn't give that up for anything!

How I live my faith

I was born into the church. Meaning my parents were members when I was born. I have loved being a part of this great gospel. I love serving in the church whether it be teaching young kids in primary, or being a part of the presidency over the high school age girls. One thing I loved doing when I was in the youth program was going to nursing homes before Christmas and caroling and handing out goody baskets. The different service projects the church came up with also helped us grow closer to the community and helped us spread the love of Christ with those we served.
