Hi I'm Beric

I was born and raised in Jamaica. I like canning and I like to eat what I can. I'm definately a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Hanover, Jamaica. I came to the United States in 1968. I took an engineer class at ITT Tech. I studied engineering and construction. I worked in construction just about all my life. I was married to a Puerto Rican for ten years and she decided that she wanted to try the other side of the pastures, so we got divorced. I met my current wife in 1978 and moved to Texas. We lived in Texas for about 12 years and then we moved to Oklahoma where we lived for 3 or 4 years. It was there that we found this church. We were married and sealed in the Dallas, Texas temple. We have been married for almost 38 years. Our love for each other grows stronger every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I found out that's the only true church after I prayed about it, and I'm not just saying that because you're here. I love this church. The missionaries contacted us when we moved to Oklahoma. And all the questions we had, the answers came from the scriptures -- in other words, the Book of Mormon. My wife, three of our daughters, and I all were baptized at the same time. At present, two of our daughters fell away from the church, but one is still strong in the church. I love the church. My testimony grows stronger every day. My wife and I read the scriptures every day. The gospel and the church means everything to me in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith because I trust in God and I talk to him every day. He's my creator, he's my God, and he's my King. I've been a church men's group leader assistant and a Sunday school teacher. I've been a temple worker in the Washington D.C. temple, the Idaho Falls temple, and the Boise, Idaho temple. There is no other place better to serve than in the temple. In the temples you can feel the presence of Heavenly Father there.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Beric
When we entered the church me and my wife got into canning. I remember President Hinkley said that food storage is very important to come and the day would come when your food storage would be worth more than gold. That means if you're in the church you need to get off the sofa because you're going to need it one day. And that's what happened to us. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Beric
I know that this is the chance that we can get back to live with Heavenly Father again. Eternal life is where your there with Heavenly Father and you don't have to worry with all the stress of murderers and thieves and liers. You don't have to worry about all of that. When you depend on Heavenly Father he will give you the strength to resist evil. Show more Show less
